Profiles + PNGs = no love?
I was doing some updating to my profile, and I decided to use an avatar that I use for certain forums as my profile image. I try to link to the image, only to find out that the profile 'system' does not support PNGs. Admittedly I can easily change the pic to GIF or JPG, but I'm kinda curious as to why PNGs aren't allowed. How hard would it be to add PNG support?

Very, very easy.Reverend Hammer wrote:I was doing some updating to my profile, and I decided to use an avatar that I use for certain forums as my profile image. PNGs have much un-nastier headers so all it takes is a few lines of code if you want to check image size. They're also (usually) lossless by definition, unlike JPEG< so they're big but they look great.
The HuffYUV of images ^_^
But nobody abuses PNGs, just add "PNG" to the server mimetypes and the code to allow them.
