Banner Votes are wierd

Just wondering as I busted my butt making these banners and I got so many unworthy votes. Do people look at the bottom to see wich box to mark? just wondering. I used Adobe PS 7.0 btw.

the number within the parentheses next to the unworthy is actually the number who did voted your banner as worthy. you need over 90 to have your banner shown.

it's kinda confusing the way it's set up.

I just voted on the 15 banners that i had not voted on....and i voted on the ones "I THOUGHT" were worthy. if yours were not in my worthy list, then to me they sucked. Thats why you get unworthy votes. People think they suck.
Thats why you get Worthy votes. People DON"T think they suck. Its not a matter of if they know what button to press.....its a matter of them not liking your banners.

So when I go look at my banners, The number beside them is un-worthy votes I got?? Yeah is a little cofusing to me. Heh or maybe I'm a silly blonde chick lol

No, those are the votes you got from people declaring that your banner was worthy. If that number gets to 90 or above, the unworthy will turn into worthy. It's just the current state of your banner.

I hardly ever rate a banner worthy. Maybe 1 out of 100.

Here's what I look for:
I down down the list taking a glance at each banner for a split second and marking unworthy by them all.
If I have to strain to read the crappy font, or because the text doesnt stand out from the background enough, unworthy.
If its a boring banner with just some pics and crap, unworthy.
If I ask myself "WTF is that"? Or it has some freaking weird message on it that has nothing to do with amvs whatsoever, unworthy.
If it has stupid-ass shit like "Leave an opinion!", unworthy.

If it catches my eye, its CLEVER, and it serves to actually advertise the site, then and only then do I click worthy.

I'd like to think that this sort of stuff would be common sense when it comes to making banners, but apparently it isnt. The sole purpose of a banner is advertisement. It should catch your eye. You shouldn't have to guess what its advertising. And most of all, it should make it look INTERESTING.

I've personally never submitted any banners, besides one I did as a joke, for the sole reason that I've never been able to come up with one that satisfies these rules.

I've submitted two banners, and they got close but didn't quite make it. It's the same thing with AMVs...it all comes down to opinion. Your banner could be a complete work of art...one that you spent hours on...and yet, if not enough people like it, it won't make it. That doesn't make it bad, it just makes it "unworthy". I've seen plenty of interesting banners that didn't make it in...and tons of completely stupid and/or boring ones that did make it in. It all depends on whoever's voting.
As for my banners, I'm not terribly suprised at them losing. They both probably took an hour tops to toss together. I mainly did them for experience. But banner making IS fun. I'll probably do more. To heck with opinions and if they get in or not. ^_^

Apparently not getting the play on Kaoru's last line in NGE episode 24. Oh well.

Most of the banners I don't care about. Of those of which I actually have an opinion, most I vote unworthy rather than worthy.

I imagine I'm not the only one. Remember that, so far, only 475 out of 3620 -- that's just 13% -- of all banners submitted were deemed worthy. So don't feel so bad about it.
