Props to Badmartial arts on this one, its unnecessary to switch to Firefox or anything else, just do this;
here's how to fix it.
Tools/Internet Options/Security tab
Click on "Custom Level"
Scroll through that list until you find "Automatic prompting for file downloads" Click on "Enable" under that. Bam. Easy, right?

Only for IE 6.0 with Service Pack 2 installed. Not sure if this worked with earlier versions/packs.
