Um, no offense, but I thought most of it was a joke. If you seriously follow all of them, then rule #11 would be serious too. . . because that would leave almost absolutely nothing else to talk about. The no profanity, no chitchat, no free sites for licensed material, 3 entry limit, ok, that's reasonable. But technically, in a way, talking about amv progress in a public journal would be pimping a future vid, and giving stats on current vids would be giving them exposure, which could also be considered pimping. I understand you're probably talking about the people who post ten million entries saying "OMG!!! WATCH MY VID!!!" and bumping their entry every 5 min. But really, there's nothing wrong with putting a simple (and single) "Cool, I finished my vid. Here's the link" in your journal since everyone keeps jumping up and down that the journal's supposed to be talking about your amvs. The finished uploaded product is a step in amv making. The QC's and opinions one, yeah, its annoying to hear people bitch about them, and ops have a reply function, but QCs do not have a reply function and they are anonymous, so you can't pm the person unless they sign their name to it. The journal is really about the only place you can reply to them where the person who gave them is most likely to read it. And though I'm sure you're refering to the "OMG!! COOKIES!!!!1111" people, subtle and meaningful is all a matter of opinion. Some people might think talking about their entire day is meaningful while others might think that's stupid and that only talking about amvs is meaningful. But hey, this is just my opinion, and my opinion only counts for one vote.Eva-Fan wrote:The <s>10</s> 11 Commandments of journalism:
Thou shalt not use profanity unto thy neighbor.
Thou shalt not chit nor chat using entries.
Thou shalt not pimp thy videos.
Remember rules 1-3 to keep them holy.
Honor thy priveledges of having a journal at all.
Thou shalt not give out free sites for licensed merchandice.
Thou shalt not complain nor promote QC's or Opinions, nor give reply's to either using entries.
Thou shalt keep entries subtle and meaningful.
Thou shalt keep entries per day to a limit of 3.
Thou shalt follow all rules or suffer thy consequences. (Made by someone else >_>)
Rule 11: Thou shalt not use journals at all because they are evil and if you do, you will be considered a junky and a fiend of the worst kind. The power of christ compels you.

I see your point. Well, in that case I can suggest the opposite. Make the journals NOT show up in the new journal entry screen automatically and if people want for them to show up then to click on a checkbox "Show in New Journal Entries". Then we'd know that people are making an concious effort in letting everyone see their entries and we can jump on the offenders .Flint the Dwarf wrote:That's a pretty good idea. And I know it's possible to do, as they made it so Sammy's journal wouldn't show when he made new entries. I don't think it would solve the "problem," because I'm betting most people wouldn't bother to use it, but it's still a cool idea.
Now for the "problem", I'm debating with myself (without strain) if the problem is 1 specific person or the fact that the journals are used so frequently. Myself, a-m-v.org is the only location I reside on on the net other than banking. I like to make journal entries and I do like it when people read them, they don't need to be posted in the new journal entries. And no, I will not get a Livejournal account.

*hopefully some will read this before Moderators delete it*Knowname wrote:^^ lol but you know that would sorta' defeat the purpose. Noobs would NEVER (well bareley ever) get in their 'I just found this site today! AMVs.org ROCKS!!'.
No, it's perfect. The whole premise was to stop the chatter and only let thoughtful, respected, well spoken people post on the journals, oh and Cornwiggle too. If we remove all the useless chatter and, oh god, n00bs from posting and getting used to using the journals. Yes, it's perfect!

I thought the purpose of a journal wasn't to talk directly to people, so being respectful and other stuff shouldn't even fit into that guideline. You're more like announcing your progress, you don't exert any emotions to others while doing that, usually.ayanefan wrote:*hopefully some will read this before Moderators delete it*Knowname wrote:^^ lol but you know that would sorta' defeat the purpose. Yes, yes, lynch mob, etc. Why don't we just take the time to find every single person abusing their journals or creating multiple accounts that they only use to give themselves opinions, replies on video announcement threads, and flame other users via the journals from the safety of a second account?Cornwiggle wrote:Look at this abuse.
