I still think that just having a plain old tracker would be a great help for the large projetcs. Its just a stable place to host torrents from other people and projects. if the creator of the file wants the public to see it then they can seed it.

I was quite dissapointed, i picked up the DDR 3 i think it was AMV from a lan... then came home and tried to find more of them with no luck.

Having a tracker running would mean that if sombody had the file and wants to help, they can seed it.

Evan for large projects it's not that much of a help... NES Project was on bittorrent for a while. It was being seeded pretty well for about a week or two. After that though it was basically just me serving it 95% of the time. It would have been just as well to have it on a direct link rather than bittorrent.

That is probally a better idea. Dedicated hosting after the initial torrent runs 'dry'

If we were to kill Phade (Like there's a lack of volenteers?) and take over the Donut server, we could build the nets largest most in demand center of bootlegged anime BitTorrents. And we'd prop Phade up with a stick, so they think he's alive, and drag him off to be put in the electric chair! O.O

As dumb as that was I still laughed.

Only because you'd be first to volenteer. :P

not that i'm around the scene much, besides the attempts at keeping an AMV stream alive....but:

if you are using bittorrent at all, use Shareaza. bittorrent links download automatically through Shareaza. its way better than using a bittorrent client, plus if someone on Shareaza (Gnuttella1, Gnutella2, or eDonkey/eMule) has the exact same file, then it will download from them too. way better.

Plus, there is a lot of AMV's already on the P2P networks. a-m-v.org is just a great way to catergorize/announce them.
hosting a tracker here is not a bad idea at all.

and that would free up tons of bandwidth for an AMV stream.

one aspect of bittorrent that could be relevant is that if your download is interrupted you can resume downloading the file from where you left off.
the program is able to identify the segments of the file already on the harddrive and fill in the missing segments.

The browser Opera can resume local downloads.

No idea why people hate Phade. My only 'disgruntled AMV creator who hates Phade' was that I didn't get a cool 'Recovering OT Junkie' label. I'm long over that. Maybe because I'm so out of the loop- I don't chat, am behind a HUGE firewall so i can't upload my videos, and I generally don't make too much of a fuss about anything, because I'm the Hardware Tech who happens to be a hippie, too.
