The codexes you should install them, those avi's you can't play are using these codexes... you should at least install DivX and XVid

Try getting DefilerPak from http://www.hellninjacommando.com ; it seems to handle most codec ills but I can't guarantee anything on a vaguely-described "old" computer.

Are you compressing the audio?I had a huge filesize problem when i first started making amvs because i wasn't doing that when i began.

My PII-450 can play most everything. Under Linux no less. I suspect your problem is something else.

i think he means that he can even view them under linux, so in windows should be no problem... Did it work out with those codex's, Owl?
