I agree with you completely, Moon, and have also offered to mod the forum.Moonie wrote:hmm
I don't think it would hurt the site to have a LAMV section.
I'm not talking about just posting them in the donators forum but
having an actual section specifically for this.
Its worked for other sites.
For example, Cosplay.com is obviously dedicated to the creation, discussion, and general enjoyment of cosplay outfits.
just like this site is dedicated to amvs and is also a very large community just like this one.
On their forum, there is a section called "Non-Cosplay Forums" and has sections for discussing
stuff like Video Games, Artwork and stuff.
Why couldn't this site have a "Non AMV" section near the bottom of the forum where other this like
Live Action vids, Games, Artwork (I know having sections for discussing those other things were suggested in the pass too and they could all be under that forum) and other stuff can be discussed at?
Sections on the forum, just like the VCA section can be added and removed without much trouble
so if for some reason the section does not work out, it can be easily removed
and everything will be back to the way it was.
If there are people willing to help mod the area, it could work out.
It never hurts to try something new and it could actually be something good for the communtiy.
*sigh* If only this could happen...

Re: Live Action Videos [Hear me out please]
I have seen forums like that and I know that these parts produce about half of stuff whole other subforums do (and honestly, these forums have quite big flow as of right now). There are also people in them who don't care about community and just post there not attributing to the site, which is something the mods don't want, it seems.
What is your defense against these (I know this sounds like attack, so just want to say it isn't - just asking ;x )?

We can't stop that from happening, even with AMVs. I think we take what we can get as far as those new people who DO stay, and cut out losses for the ones who just use us to drop their videos in once in awhile. If anything, if they're good, at least these people will provide us with some entertainment.Nya-chan Production wrote:I have seen forums like that and I know that these parts produce about half of stuff whole other subforums do (and honestly, these forums have quite big flow as of right now). Re: Live Action Videos [Hear me out please]
A-kon also allows just about any source as long as you enter it into the "anime inspired contest". I've entered Disney to that contest in the past - the director told me he would have allowed me to enter it into the amv contest, but after seeing the initial audience reaction (they laughed - right before they all fell silent) he said I made the right choice. This contest pretty similar to the VAT at AWA and people can enter original video, LAMVs, Anime videos using non-music sources, VGMVs, etc.Kitsuner wrote:I know AWA's Video Art Track allows any source material, but the only other convention to show live action videos that I know of is Vividcon, which is specifically targeted at the vidding community.Code wrote:Plus, doesn't anime cons usually cater to these types of things? I know Amo-Chan had a LA video win at a con, and I ALWAYS see ATLA videos winning all over the place at the lesser known cons. Only the big name cons seem to really make a difference and/or stink over it. xD
As for the actual AMV contest(s) they don't even allow video games, or trailers, and people who enter VGMVs or trailers get their videos moved to the anime inspired contest.

Connecticon also has a "Fan-made Music Videos" contest that allows almost any source.

Youmacon allows any kind of Music Video (though MV is not implicit either) in it's contest. It also has a Video/Audio Track department and dedicated room that showcases all kinds of fan videos.

This thread is very educational. For those who didn't know where to send non-anime videos before, now we do!

Lets quit all this bullshit arguing and create the stupid forum. If it works, great. If it doesn't work, delete it and move on. Jesus Christ on a dildo, sometimes the org argues about the dumbest shit.

No.Will it help the org to have this?
No. People will bitch at us forever about it. It's easy to give extras people desire, but hard to remove them. Better to just deny them.If we try it and it doesn't work, can it be easily removed?
So yes, stop the bitching about the LAMV forum.
