In the Live-Action thread in General the average video that gets posted in there usually only gets 2-3 responses. Do we really want to create a whole new forum where a slew of videos are going to be posted when almost nobody is going to reply anyway. Or in this case start spamming another forum for no good reason?
I'm a Live-Action editor. Off the top of my head I've edited >15 Live-Action videos over the last 4 years. I've edited more Live-Action than Anime videos since 2006. Despite all this I still think creating a sub-forum for Live-Action videos, or spamming an existing forum, with a thread for every new video is a terrible idea.
- We don't get the feedback in the existing thread in General, so what's the point of creating a whole new forum?
- This is AnimeMusicVideos.org - how many other ways can I say this?
- Introduce an LAMV sub-forum and you're going to be flooded by LJ community users.
- Do we then create a rule that you can only post in the Live-Action thread if you're an AMV editor as well? How do you enforce that?
I really think that if everyone seriously wants this then one of you should just pull your thumb out of your ass and work on developing a sister site. I honestly think there's no place for them here apart from the existing thread in General AMV.

That IS the point. personally i don't lurk the lamv thread because it's a big mess. I wouldn't give someone feedback because i doubt they'll get it. With a new forum, there'd probably be more feedback or at least a little, and you'd KNOW when you got it.Prodigi wrote:- We don't get the feedback in the existing thread in General, so what's the point of creating a whole new forum?
oh no...more users...diverse community...enriched tastes...enlightenment...new friends... this forum would be the end of us all.Prodigi wrote:- Introduce an LAMV sub-forum and you're going to be flooded by LJ community users.
if we're so intent on beingProdigi wrote:- Do we then create a rule that you can only post in the Live-Action thread if you're an AMV editor as well? How do you enforce that?
or we could just put new threads in the forum on approval only.

Re: Live Action Videos [Hear me out please]
If you're simply too lazy to go into an existing thread and post a reply, or even PM feedback, then why do you deserve an entire new forum for it? I give feedback to videos in that thread all the time and the creators have no problem seeing my feedback. Do you have problems clicking the "back" and "forward" pages button?gotegenks wrote:That IS the point. personally i don't lurk the lamv thread because it's a big mess. Yes. We should.gotegenks wrote:if we're so intent on beingracistexclusive about who posts here
You do realize what you're doing is the equivalent of going into a restaurant that specializes in Japanese food and then complaining that they don't serve Chinese food. Or Mexican. Or Lebanese.

I'll bring up again that I don't think that the eljay crowd would flood to the org just because there's suddenly a live action announcement subforum... They have their own cliques, and most of us aren't apart of it.

Re: Live Action Videos [Hear me out please]
I have been, and continue to be, against this. Prod pretty much sums up my view quite eloquently, and he makes LAMVs. I do not, have not, and probably never will. Prod has made lots of videos. I know, I've betaed quite a few, and even with him, I only like three: Parting Ways, Sin, and Starbuck. I'm just not a LAMV viewer.
I don't mind helping out vidders in the video forums because the principles are largely the same. Those that do post, and a few have, requesting help, are usually far better informed and much more mature than the average newbie AMV editor, so they're actually a joy to help. However, the idea is that those threads will be useful to AMV editors. This is STILL A-M-V.org.
If you want a LAMV community, set it up. It's not that difficult. Although I have no traffic at the moment, I set up the Kimagure Orange Road forums, and they're completely functional. And I did it in like twenty minutes.

Re: Live Action Videos [Hear me out please]
I'm still on the fence, I wouldn't mind having the subforum cause I'd use it, but I don't see it as a necessity. There's plenty of ways to promote non-anime videos here without needing an entire subforum.
1. Posting links in your signature - if you have something like livejournal, come up with a "profile" for your video and post it there, then link to it in your signature - if you have the right settings on your comments then anyone can respond and make comments on your videos. This has worked out quite well for me in the past to get some good legit feedback from amvers.
2. Announcing along with an amv. Ileia has done this recently and I've seen plenty of feedback in her thread for her Aristocats video.
3. Post in the "live action thread". While this never seemed to get me any feedback it works for some of the others. (I suppose part of the problem is that all the feedback I got was getting chewed out for posting a Disney video in the thread because ohshi- it's not live action. :\ meh! However when a Disney thread was made it got locked...)

I'm sure a lot of this is repost, and I'll repost some more: as I said earlier, I don't think that the eljay crowd is going to come flooding. So for me that isn't a valid reason against the forum.

Circular argument is circular. Reading this on page 12 is like reading it on page 1. There's nothing to be gained of restating what's already been said, people. -_-
