Well, if they're places he's previously done business with, I imagine he can tell us what the quality of their work is.Phade wrote:The problem with online dealers is that you don't get to see the actual quality of the merchandise before ordering.

Yes, but they might not have the Phade Seal of Approval because he hasn't seen them with his own peepers.derobert wrote:Well, if they're places he's previously done business with, I imagine he can tell us what the quality of their work is.Phade wrote:The problem with online dealers is that you don't get to see the actual quality of the merchandise before ordering.

No that was scaremongering by someone who couldn't quite understand what the ToC was really saying. You have to grant cafepress access to the copyright for them to be allowed to make a copy (i.e. print the shirt) otherwise you could get them to make a t-shirt and then sue them for making money off your copyrighted work.Kusoyaro wrote:Didn't Cafe Press change their policy so that anything you sell on their site becomes their property?
The reason the org store went down is because cafepress changed the rules in a way that penalised small stores that only had a few sales.

Well considering i just got my corporate card in the mail i'll know shortly about at least a few of the online places as I needed them to approve my business credit before I could do anything online.derobert wrote:Well, if they're places he's previously done business with, I imagine he can tell us what the quality of their work is.Phade wrote:The problem with online dealers is that you don't get to see the actual quality of the merchandise before ordering.
There is also a guy right across the street from where I live that does silk screen printing as well. But his shirt prices are about double and he won't do printing on shirts that you bring him. About 8.00 for a white shirt and then an 18 dollar screen fee for each color/location. He will keep the screen when you are done and only charge you a resetup fee of 5 dollars per color per location for each run. His prices only make sense when doing larger runs, or lots of repeat business.
Whatever you decide is fine. I was just trying to be helpfull and share some knowledge.

This site has grown quite a bit since the store closed down, plus there will be a backlog of people wanting stuff. I don't think you will have any trouble selling runs on that order of magnitude.mckeed wrote:The trouble with stuff like this if you want it to be nice you generally have to make them in quantities of like 36 at a a time. If anyone wants to submit designs for a shirt. Please feel free. Idealy I would like to get the original artist of the logo to recreate it in illustrator. I like the idea of the superman style shirt.

Well, I got a great vendor for embroidery now, and those kind of hats I can make fairly quickly. Again though, I would feel uncomfortable doing something like this without approval first. I have some hats on my site with embroidery done by them and they do look really nice in person. Top knotch stuff.
