Introduction section?

Post by SSJVegita0609 » Wed Feb 09, 2005 5:55 pm

I'm suggesting we bring back the forum introduction section, just to clear out all the people posting "Hey, I'm new here!" threads in general AMV. I see at least 3 of those a week.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

That was suggested recently.

I'm in support. I can see it being functional enough. They could put in an autolock script that cans the threads after a certain period, too.

But that's up to the admins. For one, I'm also for OT, but it's not like that opinion is of particular substance to them

Well, I'm for it. But we don't have to remake the "It's All About Me" forum. Just make it introduction, like Veg said. That way there can be no stretching or misinterpretation of its purpose.

Its a rare occurence that someone posts a thread of such nature, so I dont think it'l be nesesary. Then again, if it goes some distance to bringing back an OT forum, why not? On topic about OT, how about just make it something thats available to members who have 500+ or 1000+ . That would solve the people coming here just for the OT problem, as you'l know that the people posting in the OT will actualy contribute to the amv related threads as well. Tighter restrictions on meaningless threads in the forums we have now would stop people from purposely trying to increase their post count. With that you might as well delete threads of such nature instead of simply locking them, so the post count goes back to what it was before.

Well, the most trivial answer being "I don't think phpBB supports that."

There probably is a way. I bet it would require some additional coding though, which I'm sure is the last thing you want to do

What about create a usergroup? That way only members that have a certain amount of posts can enter that group, and also that usergroup is the only one that can post. I've seen Shoujo-ai Heavens done that for their adult section.

That would mean an acutal user would have to stalk the user list and CONSTANTLY check the post counts of people in order to let them into the user group.
It's just too much work for something so stupid.

If you want to come up with the code for it, sure.
I just don't think it's worth the trouble.
