Heh, that why not to learn japanese page is funny :P

I've been studying Japanese for 4 years now, plus 2 years before that I was picking apart words in anime. As far as linguistics go, I do very well, so I actually consider myself fairly fluent.

AUGH! I wanna go to Japan so bad!! But I'm poor AND afraid of flying. (And yes, I was afraid of flying LONG before 9-11 :P - I'm scared to death of heights, falling, crashing, death, etc.... things one with my mindset would associate with flying... heh...)

Don't be a friggin weiner. Go to Japan. The only bad part about the flight is if you get some dumbass kid next to you for 13 hours.

I'm taking it this semester, and so far, I'm really enjoying it. I actually look forward to going to class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's like... unheard of for me ^^.

How can you write if you cannot speak? I find it highly illogical to have memorized the Hiragana and Katakana without knowing how each is pronounced. Or you inferring that you can write utilize several thousand Kanji but cannot pronounce them? Are you Chinese? In that case you may want to go back to basics because the Japanese system has made many changes to the Chinese tzu. The word for "I" polite for instance in Chinese would be read as meaning "selfish"

Or how in Chinese Kanji "Big Strong Husband" becomes "alright" (Daijoubu)
