Get extremely fine iron shavings and let them rust. stick a magnesium strip into it and light the end. When the extremely bright/hot magnesium reaches the iron it will start a super hot reaction. The oxygen from the rust will break off from the iron and burn, which means this doesn't need a source of air. Cover it with dirt and it will keep on buring, it will even burn under water. The only way to stop it is to spread the shavings apart so that they won't catch fire.

I was in a group at school that was into explosives, I watched but tdidnt take part in the making. The thing to remember is that yuou shouldnt listen to unspecific avice from people you meet on the net, you want to get actual quantities and distances and then shrink the size and increase the range, start small and work your way up through experience, there is plenty of resources out there which will give you starting tips.
very, very very, large cap, for a cap gun. they are used to warn trains of dangerous conditions
Do not touch these as they blow arms off with ease they are designed to be loud enough to hear even with a train going full pelt over one, this equals extremely loud which means huge bang, they are also designed never to fail which means they are volatile, these factors combined equals mortal wounds to idiots who mess with them.

Me and some freinds found some of these in a shack out in the woods, we handled them with extreme caution, due to the fact that they had explosive crystals forming on the outsides of them. we strapped them to 6 inch thick trees and shot them with .22's from apprx 50 feet away. They immediately snapped the trees like twigs, and let off an impressive bang.

Another fun thing is a potato cannon, you can make these out of a few pieces of PVC piping, a coleman lantern lighter, and some spray ether, but I'm not telling you how to, I dont want someone being stupid and shooting their dog, mom, car or whatever.

which is probobaly why i never got hurt, or even lost any hearing blowing these things off. i might be a pyromaniac, but im not a dumb one. these should be handled carefuly, never the less, they are still the most powerful thing ive seen in such a small package

Using average, run of the mill chemicals, Make yourself some NitroGlycerin this is extremely volotile, you have to be fucking crazy to play with nitroglycerin So....

Take the NitroGlycerin and dilute it with water (start with about 98% water and work your way to more powerful) put it in a water gun and spray it on stuff. After the water evaporates you will have a small quantity of crystals. Not enough to cause damage, but it will be enough to make a loud popping sound and repel anything that hits it. I suggest spraying it on the banisters in stair wells after you test it and get the solution to the right dilution. It makes for interesting expressions when someone puts their hand on there and it gets pushed away along with a loud popping sound.

Tell them it's for a school experiment and have them pour some into (you must bring the container) one of those coffe thermos' (the bigger the better). Don't screw the lid on to tight because pressure will quickly build up in the thermos.
