well if you're going atheism vs. occultism then yeah its kind of outrageous, I'd never convince my dad of this stuff (even though his girlfriends mom is like super-uber-jedi-mystic)
but if you're going something like any-major-world-religion vs. occultism it takes the scientific cake

Hmm... any major organized religion? Well I'm Christian, even though much of that "religion" disagrees with me. Not I with it, it disagrees with me. But I tend to rely on science for answers. And no, I would never belong to the Church of Science or whatever the Scientologists set up. I can't really believe in this occultism stuff either. But I can't disprove it, just as I can't prove anything that I really believe in.
Ugh... sorry for getting off topic there...
I believe that humans are too unevolved. Our physical evolution is mostly up to par with what it should be since we can live reasonably well in our environment, but mentally we are the scum of the earth. You might argue that we are the most intelligent species here, and I'm sure you've heard all the other arguments about us being primitive. So I'll skip all that. But human potential, I believe, is nearly as vast as the universe. Our society is so underdeveloped that we still fight with eachother on such a large scale basis as to cripple our economy. No, we have not evolved enough. Our society is what has atrophied.Alucard_FoN wrote:One of the things they believe in is that psychic powers are intrinsic to every human, but as we have evolved society-wise, we haven't needed them, so they've atrophied.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

But I already realized that. See, everything is relative. Therefore, no one can truly know anything.RadicalEd0 wrote:once you realize that you and I know nothing is when it starts making sense :]

This science-therum stuff confuses me more than anything else... altho I do believe in the fact that the physical being is just a host for some higher power that we can't always tap into. What happens when you can make ends meat over dreams tho?
That's another thing I believe in, that dreams are another form of communication or message sent from some other person. It's when the dream turns to reality that it get's scary

lets all start practicing OBE and meet in the astral every night together! :O
actually, you have to be damn committed to this stuff to achieve, meg (mentor person) yells at me for trying to get people into it because you've gotta dedicate a lot of time and not everyone will do that ~_~
you can tell I'm bored and putting off mission improbable when every other post is me... ¬¬

My little story:
I don't know what I saw, or if indeed I saw anything. Easily could've been a trick of shadows or my own eyes seeing things that weren't there.
This happened just in October, at the 140th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Perryville, KY. The reenactment is unusual in that is takes place on the actual battlefield, as opposed to someone's farmland or a park or something. Men fought and died on that ground; it's a real rarity and an honor to represent them in some capacity over a century later.
I'd heard about the hauntings and sightings the other guys in my unit claimed to have seen including things at a previous Perryville event, and Civil War ghost stories are a gold mine to be sure. It put me in the frame of mind that I hoped I would see something this time.
On Saturday night, the five of us (collectively the Soggy Bottom Mess, 94th Ohio Volunteer Infantry) left the main Union camp and set out for a hilltop where we knew the real 94th had passed by. We made camp, and one of the guys read a letter by candlelight written by a member of the real 94th describing the battle as he saw it. After that I left to check out the minstrel band, but left soon afterwards as it turned out to just be a dance, and not a very good one.
So, as I'm walking back to our bivouac site, maybe 1/2 mile or more, the ground lit dimly by starlight, what little moon was showing, and the floodlights of the modern museum and parking lots. I had to go slow, as I couldn't really see the ground very well, and did not want to slip in a muddy bit or a chuckhole and break my ankle.
I looked off to my left and saw, barely silhouetted against the hillside, a shadowy figure keeping pace with me. After a momentary thrill I saw that it was in fact my shadow cast against the hill by the floodlights mentioned earlier. I kept walking.
As I approached the footbridge that crossed a small creek, I noticed some motion also silhouetted against the hillside. This time I was sure it wasn't caused by floodlights, or my shadow because I was standing still. There was no sound. It looked like the lower half of a horse, moving from right to left at a slow trot. No substance, just shadow.
Perhaps I was trying too hard to come away with a paranormal experience, or maybe I did see some faint image from the past. I'd like to think I did. It's not too hard to see what I saw as some officer's horse riding up to the front.
