has anyone seen the pics of this great new game? I hear snake has to live off of fish and vegitation to survive. Is this true?

Well, it is set in the jungle and it certainly does appear that you have to eat raw fish and snakes to survive.

However, the hero is not the Snake we're familiar with. If you watch the trailer is flashes dates from the early 60's and all the enemies are using old equipment. Also, Kojima once explained that Snake didn't use a combat knife because he wasn't a cold-blooded killer, and the trailer clearly shows the main character slitting a guard's throat.

It seems pretty obvious that this game is going to be about Big Boss in his younger days rather than Snake. Now I don't have a problem with this, but it really bothers me that Kojima is jerking us around again. MGS2 came out and there was no mention whatsoever of Raiden until you opened the manual or started the game. It pisses me off that he's making <I>another</I> game where he strongly implies that you play as Snake and then does something entirely different.

There are also some promo shots where it appears that one of the main character's eyes is scarred or in some other way injured. Big Boss did have an eyepatch in later years, so draw your own conclusions

As an aside, I think that if the game is good, who cares who you play as? And Snake is technicalyl almost entirely identical to Big Boss anyway, so they're going to be very similar characters.

My guess is that the creator figures people have only really played MGS1 and MGS2 and not the nes one that tell about the stuff in zanzibar and what not. So I think that they are just trying to give the "loyal to a point" players a histroy lesson. Though I am probably wrong. Anyway VIVA LA MGS!

If it were entirely about one character then I am good. Unlike MGS2, why trick people into thinking that they were playing as Snake. It makes no sense. Oh well... I am happy wiff MGS2:Substance.

isn't snake eater a funny title? well snake eater is the term used for some special military unit. Big Boss was in that unit.
