US Military Draft

You know, I'm really hoping the draft is reinstated. I want to watch those Christian "friends" of mine whine about being sent off to die right next to me, so I can laugh when their God doesn't save them.
Hopefully, I'd get to play with the AR-10. The AR-15 is a fine weapon, with limited recoil. However, there is nothing like a .30 caliber for superior stopping power.

Military does not use the good old Browning .30 Caliber.Toecutter wrote: Hopefully, I'd get to play with the AR-10. The AR-15 is a fine weapon, with limited recoil. However, there is nothing like a .30 caliber for superior stopping power.
However, depending on your job, you could mess with the M-60 SACO or the M-249 S.A.W. both of which I have fired and are quite fun to shoot
Military dosen't refer to the rifle as the AR-15, that is the civilian designation. The M-16 (POS) and the M-4 are in use. No futuristic weapons in the US Military. You want futuristic, go to the British or French armies

I know the AR-15 is designated M-16A2 in the military. However, I refer to it as the AR-15 because Ar-15 designation sticks with the civilian rifles no matter what barrel length used, or if there's a telescopic buttstock or the standard fixed type.
Also, the U.S. Army DOES use the AR-10. I read it in an article from "Popular Mechanics" earlier this year. The AR-10 is a refined version of Eugene Stoner's original concept a .30 caliber, gas-operated selective fire assault rifle. Hell, it's identical to the AR-15, except for the fact it's chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62mm NATO).
Believe it or not, RedFusionX, although I am just a civilian, I do know a thing or three about some military hardware.

Did some research, and called my friends at Combat Arms Training here at Shaw, and the AR-10 was a prototype that was competing in the rifle designs, however, the military decided it was un-needed. And I also have come to distrust Popular Mechanics due to the fact that they stated that the USAF is buying a fleet of Block 60 F-16s, which is untrue, trust me I am in a F-16 squadron.
Just do me a favor and research a little more before stating facts from a magazine you read a few months ago. I respect your interest, but just watch what you say, some things are true, and some are exaggerated.

I wonder about people who say stuuf like that, I knew one who was saying stuff like that, and when he got forward deployed to Kuwait from PSAB where we were, I found out he was one of the first people who cryed and pissed their pants during the SCUD attacks. You don't know how you're going to react when the bullets start flying.Toecutter wrote:You know, I'm really hoping the draft is reinstated. You should try what we did, working twelve hour shifts (not including the two hours of bus rides to and from work), six days on, one day off, in the sun, middle of sandstorms, and with very little equipment to work with.

In Toecutter's mind, who DOESN'T have something against him ?
Armalite does make semi-auto civilian versions of the AR-10. They apparently use converted M-14 magazines, which sounds kind of "meh" to me.
If I were to buy a .308 weapon, it'd probably be one of the "sporter" FALs, or maybe a CETME/G3 type rifle.
