This is a common fallacy in etymology- believing that the oldest version of a word is the 'correct' one. In actual fact, it is the most commonly used one that is more 'correct'.

Hey, I hate to break it to ya buddy, but politicians in general are not in it for the good of their country. No matter what country they're from, thanks. I mean, there are exceptions sure. But there are exceptions to everything.

Also, I reccomend you get off your soap box about this whole thing. America sucks because alot of Americans just simply don't care? You seem to care alot. Why don't you fix our problems, eh?
