The only problems I have are that it can scare off potential regulars to the board and that members have complained about the thread before but nothing is done about it yet the WLT is deleted no reason other than the fact it was a really long spam thread...

Well, there are some new members that almost ask for people to bother them about being new members, when they say remarks about being prepared for the n00b haters. lol

You can't exactly stop people from acting the way they do. It's their choice. And you can't control them, only yourself.

Besides, there has to be a balance in the world of dark and light (if you want to compare it like that). Don't get me wrong, it's like I like the idea of frightening new members, but most of the time I really don't see any harm in it.

It's all about balance... ~_^ (blue light or some other beer commercial LOL)

Uh... the point (brought about by satire) is that these people flame "n00bs" as if they have some inherrent priveledge to do so. Obviously they must think themselves great, or at least higher in the food chain than a "n00b". Yet simple research shows that they themselves have done little to contribute, save the dismemberment and eating of "n00bs".

Actually I was trying to be funny, but in the process I assumed others would think I am trolling. That's what that comment addresses.

As for the dismemberment, it's just a bad way to welcome a "n00b" (as they like to put it). It is seemingly harmless all in all. Actually it looks to me like the actions of a D&D geek desperate for a high five for his attention getting display of trashing those lower on the social scale than he. I don't think people pay much attention to it, but I find it ironic when I look at all he has done since the days he was a "n00b" that has given him the n00b-killing status in his own mind.

So they have fun roleplaying. Just leave them be. If you'd be scared by something as simple as a person describing your death through the internet, you'd probably run away in tears after something like a quick flame war. It's just part of the community, and people mess around with the inexperienced everywhere.
Poking at 'em is fun, just messing around. They should get the message pretty quickly, and learn how to behave themselves here. Otherwise I doubt they'd stick around for long anyway.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.
