Well if they win then I'll never buy a CD again.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I agree about how they could use their money better, but they only see money comeing in as a good thing. Also what the fuck is Aesop's tale of the willow and the oak?Chaos Angel wrote:I still maintain that the record companies could better spend their energies trying to use file-sharing technology to their advantage rather than fight it so vehemently. Does no-one remember Aesop's tale of the willow and the oak anymore?

On the bank of a river sat a willow tree and a large oak tree. The oak tree was large and very proud. It would constantly ridicule the willow tree for it's inferior size and taunt it by moving it's branches to block the willow's sunlight. One day, a large storm came up. The oak tree stood up to the storm, thinking "HA!! I'll show that miserable little willow what I can do!!" But as the winds grew stronger, the oak began to tire. In time, it could no longer hold out against the wind, and it gave, snapping in half.
The next morning, as the oak tree lay half in and half out of the river, it saw that the willow tree had survived the storm intact. It asked the willow, "How is it that I, with all my might, stood up to the storm and was broken, but you managed to remain whole?"
Thw willow tree looked down on it's former aggressor and said "When the winds came, you held your ground and were broken by their force. But I allowed myself to bend, to let the winds blow around me, and thus I am now intact.
The moral: He who does not bend shall surely break.
