If entering a burning building...

I would grab the painting and call for the cat to follow me, if the cat did not listen I would think to myself "Oh well I tried" then take off to save my own ass. Then when I exited the house I would put the painting under my shirt and walk up to the people saying "Im soooo sorry I tried to save your kitty and your painting but the roof collapsed on both of them." Then I would run.

Say you're on a road and ahead you see a burning building and stop to go see. Everyone who lives there has evacuated the building, but there are two things they equally hold dear: A priceless Van Gogh painting, and their new pet kitten. They beg you to go in and save them, but when you get inside you see the ceiling falling apart and you have a short time to decide.
To your right, the painting. To your left, the kitten. You only have enough time to save one and get out alive... Which do you choose?
(Please, no pointless posts like "I'd sit there and die." or "I'd never go in in the first place." If you don't like kittens, then just imagine it's a different kind of animal.)

I would just see it as one less damn cat that would be digging thru my trash.Aetherfukz wrote:Without a doubt I'd save the kitten. Life is important. Not money.

Though I'd save the kitten, he does have a point. The Van Gogh has a value which transcends its price on the market.kthulhu wrote: Perhaps, and yet, just as the kitten has "value" because it's alive, the Van Gogh has value, too. It represents the artistic passion, vision, labor, and (considering he cut his ear off) frustration of the artist. It has instilled value. A value of beauty.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Ya, the cat should come and if it wouldn't there is always the chance the cat would be so scared it would run from you as you approached. Thus you would be unable to save either one.MAS PRODUCTIONS said

I'd go for the painting first, stay on one side of teh building, and if possible I'd save the kitten too... God I've watched too much Trigun... But if I could only choose one, the painting, there are many kittens in the world, as are there many humans, they're not a rare variety, but it would be respectful to have some kind of memorial or something fer teh cat, y'know if it was a 3 yr old kid's cat... that kid would probably be scared for life...
