I learned nunchaku by watching Maxi.... animation's so damn fluid I managed to learn to use a single nunchaku quite well.
My kung fu is a style developed by a master in my hometown. He calls it "Diamond Body". Not too flashy, but it is certainly effective.
Capoeira is that brazilian martial art / slave dance. It's the most fun MA I've practiced yet.
Unfortunately, it's been a month since I practiced anything, because I got kicked in the fingers and almost broke one of em (looked all twisted in weird places.
It hasn't healed completely, but it will always be a bit bent.
On a similar note, how many people here own a katana? (I have a spanish-made one, but it IS a practical sword)

I like bugging people. Deal with it.

I'm currently taking karate as a PE course through my school. I've been messing with nunchuku for a couple years now, I really like them
After my karate class is over I am going to join one of the martial arts clubs on campus to try and learn some of other styles. Aikido, Judo and Kung Fu are my choices. Aikido is just really cool... Judo I would like to learn the tumbling excercises, because i have this fear of falling down i would like to get over. And Kung Fu... there's a lot of people I know in that, so it would be a good choice as well.
Decisions, Decisions.

In Tai Chi I have also learnt to fight with a Jo, a Bo and a Spear and they are in respective order:
4ft 5
6ft/7ft
and 9ft-11ft
(although these are educated guesses i'm not used to imperial mesurements )

You mean those SLOs from CAS Ibera or such? The spanish made ones usually have (1) Rat tail tangs, a structural integrity issue (2) Greater than 0.1% Chromium content, NOT good (3) Ground bar steel (not forged)El Banana wrote:On a similar note, how many people here own a katana? I'm going to forge my own sometime, but for now I'm printing up fake ones out of CNC machine.
As for martial arts, I just don't have the time for them, and I don't believe I am in the right mindset for them. There are many non-technical things you need to master and learn as well. Additionally, even the technical parts are often dynamic, realtime and non-procedural.
And then, my application for one of these still hasn't been granted:Process person learning martial arts wrote:So WHILE opponent's doing A, do B? And if C, depending on D, I do the E? which is directlydependent on F?
How do I mkae a flowchart of THAT?!

Eh, dunno. It was quite cheap, has the nice little wave-pattern-thingy, and is sharp. Ergo, it cuts, although may not withstand use against other swords.danielwang wrote:You mean those SLOs from CAS Ibera or such? Almost three years of a multi-Japanese martial arts class which majors in Kendo and Kenjutsu but also teaches(And pardon my bad spelling):
Tamishigiri
Lai
Akeido
Self-defense
Grapling
And I own a bokken, Shinai, and HAD an iaito... Bought it in Carcossone, France. Too bad for me I didn't know it was a wall hanger.. And one sad day it just went "snap" when I was practicing a few cottas... =\
Need to get more money before I can replace it with a legit Iaito, and I'm SUPPOSED to have a live-blade now, too, but... There goes the money problem again.
Lucky for me we have school swords.. =)
And plus school armor..
Good god, if I had to buy my own armor... $1000-$2000 a set...
Ah, yes, and next week I'll be signing up for a new class that's forming -- striking arts, and in a few months, the class will be able to afford a Japanese bow and arrow thing(forgot what it was called), and our class will begin teaching that.
And just in case anyone was wondering, the style I do is Mu Shin Ryu.
