XP can be much, much worse than ME, depending on what is used on the computer.

Not as long as you get SP1 installed. Did you know that ME was one of the early beta's for XP?

well ive fiddled around with it all weekend and i haventgot much closer to the solution...im gonna have to get it proffessionally repaired

ME is a 9x variant. XP is an NT variant. Therefore....
