Good point. Though prolly for the better in the case of the Anglo Saxon's and the other (at the time) primitave tribes of Europe. Frankly wasn't the Crusades a generic form of ethnic clensing?

We're SUPPOSED to be a republic like our forfathers wanted, which we still are you ignorant cry me a river head. Creating a democracy in a place like iraq is doomed to fail or be overthrown, while we're over there though we might as well kill some innocents, take some oil, you know, the basic spoils of war.

a political cleansing more though, the pope wanted would be revolutionaries out of the surrounding area, the middle east was the logical destination for sending people far away for a likely cause.

you sure broguht up another contradiction in teh bible, minnie:
Exodus 20:15 "Thou shalt not steal."
Leviticus 19:13 "Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbor, neither rob him."
vs.

Exodus 3:22 "And ye shall spoil the Egyptians."
Exodus 12:35-36 "And they spoiled [plundered, NRSV] the Egyptians."
Luke 19:29-34 "[Jesus] sent two of his disciples, Saying, Go ye into the village . . . ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. . . . And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him."

I was taught as a child that when you take something without asking for it, that is stealing.
Colin Powell wrote:"Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

Hrm... I realise you all want this thread to die... But how could I NOT respond to this thread?
I've dedicated my life to finding the holes in Christianity.. And I Have TONS to say... Most of you know what I believe, but let's just allow my summarization of the christian religion by a funny yet true quote from Malcolm in the Middle.

"I remember when Pastor [name] tols us that trying to understand what God was thinking was like an ant trying to figure out what we were thinking. So I went out into the backyard and stared at an anthill for awhile trying to tell the bad ants from the good ones. After a while I realised it was too hard so I just started smiting them all. I smited them with my foot, the bug spray, and I admit I probably went a little overboard with the lawnmower... Hey, they could've been praying to me the whole time and I wouldn't have known. So then I finally figured out that regardless if god is there watching me or not, he couldn't tell what I was thinking if we're so simple compared to him. He has complete control over our lives, afterall. So I just figured I shouldn't pray and just live my life the way I want to."

... Or something close to that.

I think it's pretty evident now that I'm agnostic. ^^;;
