Then I'll make sure to steer clear of those forums, but radicalEd, I think you'd actually like the DCDIVX forums, if not for the novelty of playing VHS quality video on your DreamCast, than the chance to tlak with people who know as much if not more about didgital video than you. (These people know so much about virtual dub they may be able teach ErMac and AbsoluteDestiny a thing or two o_0.)
Well, I dont have a dream cast, no, but my dvd player plays dvd-r and (s)vcd, so who cares. At any rate, I didnt see any kind of impressive discussions going on there about video.. nothing special at all. Browse http://forum.doom9.org and you might begin to see the real depth of the field that me, Ian, and Justin are so well versed in. Anyway, theres nothing more to learn about virtualdub, it isnt that complex a program :P

The thing about doom9 is its a no-bullshit forum. Because of that the morons that hang out at vcdhelp.com are weeded out and it's now like, the top video discussion forum on the net. This was the forum I was raised on for months before ever finding a-m-v.org, which is why I say that the mods here are lenient imo. If you want to see the difference between tough modding and bad modding on an intelectual based forum, compare http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/ to the already mentioned http://forum.doom9.org

I'm sure your dc forum is great and all, but not as great as youd think when it comes to video tech :\

True that it isn't the biggest, best, or goes into the most complex stuff, but as I said, all mods can take lessons from these guys, they, rather than being self-righteous assholes who pride themselves on how they can sit atop their thrones harrasing people. They are active participants, helpful. They aren't just mods but the most dedicated and active members, and that is something I like in a mod. They also know how to enforce the rules correctly (another thing I like in a mod). They mostly talk about how they can squeeze the best bitrate and best audio compressing onto a single disk, DCDivx gets better bitrates and VCD's to. (The coding in it isn't good enough yet to get bitrates higher than 1k, so Xvid's can still beat it.) But there are ways to play MPEG-1 streams on the DC, SOFDEC movies. the minimum bitrate is 2k though, so don't expect a full length movie.

Now I know why the mods banned you, I can only hope and pray they do it again.

Oh, and RadicalEd0, I've been browsing the doom9 forums and I like these mods better than the ones here too, sticky's to help n00b's. Helpfull advice for how to title posts. The mods, like the ones at DCEmulation, are not inviso mods, but have accounts and are active participants. From what I have read they seem generaly helpful, creating FAQ's and stickies to help people, without demeaning htem or insulting them. (Like the way the mods here say that the 'all about me' forum is for the ego stroking activities of trolls.)

yeah, but if any of the antics that go on here ever went on on doom9 there would be no questions asked about whos getting banned where and why.
Also, when the guidelines arent followed, except in rare cases with like first time posters, strikes are always administered and threads usually locked etc.
