Wha.... I've never heard of anything of that sort happening... what chapter do you know of that "brainwashes and sodomizes non-believers"? I mean, if by "brainwash" you mean, "preaches the gospel," then yeah, Intervarsity does that. But my chapter, at least, tries to do it in a loving, understanding manner. We preach the gospel, yes; that's what Jesus told His disciples to do in the Bible. But we don't want to force anyone into that decision--faith isn't something that someone should come to lightly. As for sodomizing, I honestly can't think of anything we do that would remotely resemble that. If you've ran into a chapter that does that sort of thing, then know that those practices are NOT condoned by the heads of Intervarsity...Toecutter wrote:Trident wrote:I know that organization all too well. That's the one which likes to brainwash and sodomize non-believers to get them in. I guess I'll really have to invest in a Mossberg 500 now.Me? I'm a Christian who is highly active in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, a national student movement.

Hmm... You know, there's a word for believing that you can't tell whether God exists or not. That's Agnostic. So basically what you did here, is proclaim you're agnostic.MinnieMoose wrote:
The bottem line is, you can't prove it and apparently neither can I...
So wait, you're christian, now?MinnieMoose wrote: Basically, it's "I'm right, you're wrong". It is saddening that there's so many non-believers, but hey, that is their free will.
Which one is it? Christian or agnostic....?
I'd definetly like to know...

Lmao, hilarious. Warped, I know you'll have a good time telling me how weak I am for using personal insults, but you're an idiot. It's been proven by scientists that the brain, specifically the hypothalmous, is vastly different between straight and gay men, and that the structures and sizes present in the gay male brain are much more similar to those in the female. No matter how blasphemous homosexual relations may be in your blind eyes, your God will never be higher than science. But good job almost sounding like you know something.
As for my supposed confused history of the bible... example? You seem to be the one confused.
Fact, Abraham lived in the Sumerian city of Ur.
Fact, his family worshipped the many Annukaki (sumerian gods).
Fact, he compiled them into a single consummate God who would supply years of fun and misinterpretation among the Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Fact, the early biblical stories are simple retellings of Sumerian tales. Fact, phallicism was rampant during the times of the early Hebrews and very much helped in the defiling of the Jewish beliefs.
Fact, Moses's Hebrew language was simply Egyptian script phallicised.
Fact, the Jews throughout their history have intermixed with Chaldea and shared/adopted beliefs.
Fact, apocalyptic and messianic thought began with Zoroaster, and developed into Zoroastrianism, a belief including angels, demons, The Adversary (satan and devil are transliterations from which the translation is literally "the adversary"), a messiah of light who would slay the adversary, and a firey pit of eternal punishment.
Fact, these beliefs were adopted by the Jews during the Babylonian captivity (the rules of the day, your people get pwned, you worship your pwner's god).
Fact, paradise was taken from Egyptian theology.
Fact, the Hebrew place of the dead, and every single religious system's up until Christianity became a political power, was simply a place of rest for an undefined duration (both AEON, the greek translation of "eternity", and Oulom, the Hebrew word translated as eternity, implied only a time of which the end is not known. It was not considered in the sense, for instance, that the Vedantins applied to Parabrahman or the cyclical universal cycle of Pralaya and Manvantara described before).
Fact, Messianic Judaism evolved into a cult from which John the Baptist subscribed.
Fact, many people claiming to be the "messiah" arose during this period.
Fact, the oldest texts speaking of Jesus (~50CE) speak merely of his teachings and never mention him as a messiah, god, or anything else remotely prominant.
Fact, Christianity quickly evolved into a cult and adopted practices and beliefs of the neighboring pagans, specifically the sun and moon worshippers and the Mithraists.
Fact, just a small sampling of these beliefs were; the sun-christ would be born of a holy virgin, he would descend to hell for three days and rise out as victor, that sun-day was the holy day, that the winter solstice (at the end of december) was holy - used as the birth of Jesus, that the spring equinox (Easter) was holy - used as the death of Jesus as it coincides with Passover.
Fact, early christians believed in reincarnation.
Fact, Constantine chose Christianity out of the need for a new national religion (the pantheon of rome was dying out).
Fact, he chose it over Mithraism and the other pagan religions merely because he won a battle that was fought in Christ's name as opposed to losing a battle under the name of Mithras.
Fact, the council of Nicea was called to order to sort out all the contradictions and confusion in the new cult-cum-religion.
Fact, this council ruled out several books (now known as the Apocrypha or "hidden books"), and Revelation was accepted by only one vote.
Fact, many of those books were the Gnostic Gospels, or the meaning and interpretation of Yeshua Ben Joseph (Jesus' actual name - Jesus or Joshua son of Joseph)'s parable-based teachings.
Fact, Constantine personally modified christian doctrine to form what would later ensue perfect power for priests and be used as massive control during the middle ages.
Fact, Christianity WAS used as massive population control during the Middle Ages.
Fact, the clergy DID have absolute power, and absolute power always corrupts.
Fact, I'm not the one who doesn't know what he's talking about with Judeo-Christian history, Warped.
