Acually it is because it is adeventure/rpg because rpg=roleplayinggame=that means that once you beat it you can still play the game there fore zelda is a rpg.

I've seen it classified as an rpg, thought I'm not sure why.

But shinji's example, I don't think, makes it an rpg.

Man, unless you have a character concept that you actually "ROLEPLAY" it ain't an RPG. :?

theres alot of thigns that are rpg apparently i heard dinasty warriors was a rpg*shurgges* eh go figure and zelda is kinda i guess.

Legend and Secret of Mana are much, much closer to RPG's than Zelda. THey have the same type of combat, true, but they have much more RPGish things going on with it. Your characters actually gain experience. They level up by gaining this experience. In Zelda, you collect hearts to make your life go up, and that's it. There is no kind of development of your character beyond finding all the heart pieces you can. It is not an RPG.

And to who mentioned this, you'll notice that Final Fantasy Tactics IS in fact in my list, because it's one of the coolest games ever.

Well when a game is good it's kind of implied that it's addicting. Otherwise you wouldn't keep coming back for more.
