P-38 Lightning.
Well suited to a diversity of tasks coupled with the highest kill ratio of any plane in the Pacific, I feel the P-38 was easily one of the top, if not the top, plane of WWII. And it looks swell.

Well the P-38 was a close second to(Drum Roll) THE P-51 Mustang! The mustang had a 10-1 kill ratio to the German Messhermitt. With it's tight turn radius and High operational ceiling of 50,000 ft, it ruled the skies over europe. :)

Good pick!!! The p38 was kinda slow and its altitude was low but For awhile it was the only thing we had that could escort the bombers to germany. Also the P 38 could take punishment something the Zero couldn't A P 38 shot down admiral Yamatos plane.

Has anyone ever played the flight simulators that Janes Combat Group puts out? They're EXCELLENT. They have a game called "WWII Fighters" that's one of my favorite simulators of all time. If you haven't tried it out, you can find the demo online.

I posted in this thread. I was the second person... Now I can't see it. Did anyone else see it? I remember posting. Anyway I say the Spitfire is the best WW2 plane.
