American shows in Japan?

You always hear of Japanese shows coming to the U.S...

But do they ever translate American shows and bring them to Japan? If so, please tell! I think I've heard of South Park showing in Japan.

South Park, Simpsons, etc...

Except the jokes are rewritten and localized, and the shows are editted before they are put on TV.

I think "The Simpsons" and "Friends" have been shown in Japan. I saw some commercials of the Simpsons advertising CC. Lemon (a soft drink over there), and they had the Japanese dubs. <a href="http://www.japander.com/japander/simpson.htm">Fucking hilarious</a>!

yes they have alot, I'd say. When I was there I know Buffy came on TV and they had movies like Long Kiss Goodnight and some other one. They had alot of american movies.

If I dont want American tv I hardly think they would. Though I know they re dub movies, and I sure the more popular shows here in the US.

I agree, I dont think American tv is quite up to the level of some other countries shows. However, I do have to say that some Latino shows I have seen are even dumber than our network cable masterpieces, they were very funny though. To each his own I guess. I imagine that the American shows that are dubbed in Japan and other places are more entertaining and better written than the American versions.

I know they imported and dubbed the Powerpuff Girls. I'm still trying to track down an episode of the Japanese dub (prefferably one with Mojo in it)- I think it would be a complete riot.

the japanese complained about the lousy dubbing job and the changing of the script in the Power Puff Girls in japan.

I don't think Japanese tv is any better then ours. However, Japanese acting is waaay to over exaggerated.

To each his own, but enough of the USA bashing, cause Japan ain't all its cracked up to be or better. Humans are humans.
