Truly scary encounters with anime fans
Since I'm not entirely sure which forum this post would go in, I've decided I'm safest putting it in Off-Topic.
I'm not being facetious. I really want to hear everyone else's stories of truly scary anime fans.
And as forum etiquette dictates, I'll go first:
Mine was at a Vulkon convention about three years ago. I met a fellow anime fan while browsing one of the fansub tables in the dealer room. We exchanged phone numbers, and ended up going to MegaCon together. After that, he got scary. He assumed I was his girlfriend when I NEVER gave any indication of that, spoken or otherwise. It got to the point where he started showing up at the computer lab on campus during the week and surprising me. I probably should've called security or something, but as he wasn't making any threats there wasn't much I could do. I figured when the year was up, I'd be changing rooms and phone number at the apartment complex I was at anyway.
It half-worked. I ran into him at the anime club's local convention that summer. Worst time I ever had at a Con, 'cause I spent the entire day trying to avoid him. And they had showed Princess Mononoke that Saturday, but I missed it because I was hiding from the crazy stalker fanboy I ended up having to change my IM name and my e-mail to cut him off.
I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but I was 18 and he was 17. However, I was in college while he was still in high school. I honestly can't tell you why he followed me around like a second shadow, either. I'm no prize (I'm the one on the left).
Now it's your turn. Give me some scary fanboy.girl encounters

hmm.. I guess the closest to scary for me was...
Theres an anime fan here on campus, sort of geeky, fat, glasses, reeeaaally pale... you know the sort.
I was talking on a random IRC channel and he RECOGNIZED ME. My Nick is elbanana, and I have never told him about it... he was suddenly like: Hey i think you were on my history section last semester... I'm such and such...
How do you recognize someone on a random IRC channel where there are about 100 other members and everyones using weird Nicks??
Freeaaky...

Yeah, I'll admit that was my own brand of stupidity. Guess you've got to fall on your ass once before you learn. I honestly took it as just a friend thing. He was the first anime fan I actually met away at college, so I figured if I had his number, I'd have someone to talk to (it was my second semester. I hardly knew anybody). He seemed nice enough at first, I didn't think he'd turn out to be a stalker fanboy.
I'll definitely say I'm a more careful person because of it, though. But I can't go through life being paranoid, either. I just choose friends more carefully now.
Although I don't get HOW I could possibly be teasing him. Did you guys look at the pic? I have no business even trying to be a tease!

It's kind of a pain, but if you open the link, cut the filename off the end of the url, and grab the index page, then paste the filename of the .jpg back in, it will work.Koopiskeva wrote:yep.. that geocities link sure did tease me..
oh wait.. it's not showing up.
(gotta get that referrer goodness going)
Aww hell, just click this, then paste in the filename below it at the end of the URL
