I'd suggest watching good videos and trying to figure out why they're good. I'm not saying just mindlessly copy those videos but rather that you can learn a lot just by seeing what others did that worked. Click the first link in my sig and watch the videos listed there.

You can also learn a lot from watching bad videos and seeing what doesn't work. To see some really horrible videos try the second link in my sig.

Just keep at it. You have to do it to get better at it, and if something is not working, don't do it again, try something completely new. Hope that helps, good luck.

I'd help ya out, so long as you don't expect like HOURS of tutelage from the spawn of Odorikuruu...

you know, i think more AMV pro's should take more AMV noobs under their wing. i hear the pro's complaining a lot about how the quality of AMVs was better back when there was a technology barrier. well, maybe one way to fix it is to make pro's out of those noobs!

Indeed, and I feel I have gone out of my way to be helpful to people I truly believe wish to succeed in this art form. My comments about the tech barrier was meant to illustrate my disgust for the lazy. When there was a tech barrier, laziness could be curbed by simple virtue of the learning curve and equipment limitations. If you were lazy, you couldn't edit. Simple as that.

I am more than willing to h4elp anyone I feel is dedicated to the video editing, and that's any type. My interest in amvs came from my tv broadcast training, so I had a healthy respect for composition coming in. Take your time, invest in your art form, and the results will show.
