What do you expect? Its simple math..

Youtube + n00bs = linkinpark x 1,952,211 divided by naruto. :S

To be fair, the band was overused way before Yuu'utsube OR Naruto came along.

Nice.
macguy wrote:One reason is that there aren't a lot of good songs that relate to someone's character and with a good beat. Linkin Park is after all has to be one of the most popular rock bands with it's unique style. Also, the situations match that of Linkin Park and make AMVing easier than most bands. There are not many bands out there that go with someone's feelings, experiences and character.
This is entirely subjective. It only becomes more obvious how subjective it is the broader a person's musical taste gets. Linkin Park is just commercially successful, there are droves of other bands that express the exact same emotions in their work in pretty much any style you can pick from - it's simply a matter of knowing who they are, and the only thing that determines that to most of the users on the main site is how many times they get played on MTV, Fuse, or any current radio station that specializes in playing that sort of Nü-metal or Alternative 'Hard'/Bland Rock.

That right there is the main reason it gets overused - the userbase simply doesn't have a lot of exposure to other artists, so they don't have the raw materials to say 'hey, maybe I shouldn't use this - it's already overdone' and pick from a large number of other bands which would be more original. Either that or they overcome their whiny teen angst phase (which I still feel the Seattle bands had mastered years before LP and their peers came around, and still maintain a higher quality with) and start diversifying their output.

That doesn't mean that the ones that use Linkin Park always have a narrow view of music, but I think that's a fairly accurate assessment of why there's so many crappy LP AMVs out there from editors that never visibly improve or diversify.

The problem isn't in a mere expression of emotions but a combination of originality, beat and music style. RED for example is creative in their execution of music but does have similarities to Linkin Park and there are hardly many amv's for this one. So you're correct in noting the ignorance of those people. They are also ignorant of how much it is overused. Subjectiveness may be true but I have listened to many bands now and some may either vaguely express it, or simply don't have a nice tune to it. However, the most popular of these emotions is loving another woman at least in my experience. Many of the most downloaded songs on iTunes are explicit these days. The music industry isn't really at a good shape in terms of good music that is popular. The fray is a very good one but is sort of a christian band. Others just release hatred, and talk about crap. Of course no one really likes the christian bands... Skillet being another one.

At least from my experience of listening to music, that is the case.

Skillet were good on Invincible and Alien Youth (moreso on Invincible, IMO), but now...I don't know.

I guess part of the issue is that I just see the cycles of what the industry tries to keep alive and capitalize on and just say 'screw it, this stuff was at least genuine back in the early-mid 90s - no need to rehash, just let it die already, dammit'.

if you want to see good videos using linkin park (or any other over used source) then look here

as for just looking up "amv" why dont you look for something more specific? like perhaps a series or movie you like... and tag on "amv" to the search

IE "Howl's Moving Castle AMV"

or look up videos here instead of there recommended amvs is a good place to start, and theres always the top 10% is another place you can look... the top star scale and top favorited videos

i can guarantee that if you search here you will only find amvs unlike that other place

It's just pop culture. Too many people have to be told what's cool, that's all, and they'll immediately jump on it if the popular crowd is into it. These people are usually deprived, whether by circumstance or by their own ignorance, and simply don't know what else is out there, so the latest fad will do.

I'll watch a Linkin Park vid.

Though it's the anime that usually decides if I'll watch anything or not. I have no problems listening to Linkin Park.

They're a lot better than some other overused artists here.
