Vann's Torment/Revenge

Hi, I am an underground short film and amv editor. I call myself this because I create films (in total 5 amv and 3 short films) and do not release them to the public. I don't release them cause honestly I can't stand critics, (ever since I was force to release my first film - Vox Populi- Which I thought was not ready) and I am a perfectionist, so I have a lot of "half-baked" jobs and some which I do not consider are "ready" or good enough.

However I have seen the series "Gun X Sword" which depicts Vann's story and have decided to create an amv. I have put about two weeks planning into this already and am still unable to find a song which I find suitable, or carries the desired effect of emotionally altering the audiences’ mood.

I have tried to create the song myself but found any music I created lacking in the climax and the theme of the songs dull.

This is where you come in.
I would like some suggestions for bands that could be helpful, or songs that you consider "perfect". Don't be shy, even though I can't stand critics, I myself never criticize, and will welcome any suggestions.

If you have not seen the series "Gun X Sword" I will give a brief run down of what I intend to include. I have the entire series and will be including the main events that happen.

Series Story Plot:
Vann is traveling the world, searching for a mysterious man with an artificial claw for a hand that killed his bride, Helena, on the day of their wedding. Vann swore to kill this man to avenge Helena.

Vann tries his best to remain uninvolved with those he meets along his way, and if he does help them, he does so out of public sight. This changes, however, when he starts traveling with Wendy, who insists on helping out anyone along the way. The only woman Vann truly cares about is Helena, his deceased bride.

Vann is armed with a mysterious sword that has the ability to summon and control Dann of Thursday, one of the most powerful armors (Mech) on the Endless Illusion.


Vann's personality: Although laconic (man of few words) and calm of nature, whenever information about the Claw's whereabouts are mentioned, he quickly shifts to extreme anger, going as far as death threats if he doesn't get the information he wants.


This is my original plans for the amv

Scene 1: Stolen Happiness

-We start in the church and we hear Vann saying his feeling toward Helena,
we see one of the few times Vann is actually happy, and the only pictures of Helena.
-Then the "Claw" is seen at the alter and attacks an Vann and Helena
-Vann and Helena are on the floor church covered in blood and they have their hands reached out towards each other, falling painfully short of each other.
- Vann and Helena are on a bed; we can see the wounds inflected on them more graphically now.
- We also see a man called Gadved who owns an armor called Diablo of Monday, who is later seen with the "Claw".
- Helena dies, we see the bokay(wedding flowers) she was seen holding on the floor (visual effect - changes to black and white)


Song/sound effects used:
A gothic romance - Cradle Of filth (intro up to :52 seconds)
Church Bells can be heard ringing in the background, through out the scene
A loud church bell is heard, right at the end of the scene in which the scene changes to black and white, and then quickly fades to black.


Suggestions: This is where I am having trouble changing songs.
I have a few suggestions.

The closest song I have come to is - Shadow on the sun By Audioslave (From the soundtrack of the movie Collateral)
- The end of this song is just not what I wanted, and but this is an acceptable level of relevance to the story line, I am not looking for the greatest lyrics but with a dull beat, but a compromise would be good enough.

These are bands which most people should be familiar with. These are examples of what I am looking for, but have decided not to use them. I want songs with these characteristics:

In the end By Linkin Park - Shows Vann's Determination (hard beats contrast the slower parts of the song)
Time of dying By Three Days Grace - The relevance to the Story line
Mad World By Gary Jules - The emotional impact
The kill By 30 Seconds To Mars - The amount of variety (hard beats contrast the slower parts of the song)
Yesterday By The Beatles - A timeless quality (not essential)


I am not really picky on the genre of the song. I am willing to use a slow song or death metal, as long as it is able to add variety, not just one long action amv.

Recommendations:
The intended mood is a mixture of sadness and anger (one that reflects Vann's personality - read above)
The theme of the song should be pretty obvious about now, revenge, love lost, determination, driven by hate and malevolence.

The intended direction of scene two.

Scene two: Hatred (song needed - this scene is set with the song Shadow of the sun)

- Vann is standing in the rain, a tear is seeing falling down his cheek.
- Vann is in a forest slicing down trees, when his blade gets stuck (the scene constantly flickers back to this)
- Vann is walking into the distance (will be used again at the end of the amv)
- Vann enters a church; the men are inside point their guns at Vann,
- Vann puts his hands up
- Vann is seen walking behind Gadved,
- Gadved is shown with the "Claw", Vann reacts violently
- Vann is punching Gadved with everything he has got, but it has no effect on him,
- Gadved strikes Vann to the floor, Vann is seen as helpless
- Vann is in a bar with about twenty people all pointing their guns at him
- Vann is drawing a card from deck, the joker; Vann is then thrown out side
- Vann is fighting Gadved in the armors; Vann is shown losing; his facial expression is that of defeat
- The screen flashed to a picture of the "Claw's" artificial hand; Vann expression changes to one of pure rage.
- Vann is back in the church and beats up the two men that had held the gun towards him before
- Vann is shown defeating Gadved with a swing of his sword; Gadved face shows that of defeat.
- Vann is holding the character “lucky” by the throat/shirt

.. Etc it would take forever to write down the scenes.

But this should give you an idea of the direction I am going to take with this amv.

Even though it sound very specific, honestly I will take any songs you suggest and either buy them or, if I am unable to find them, just download them.

"Ten Thousand Fists" - Album

Yes I already own that album, Great Band, and I have your amv, I think it is fantastic, great job. Both of you.

I actually already had your amv, which I find rather funny. It says you are using Adobe Premiere, how was that program to work/play with?

I am currently moving between Adobe Premiere and Vegas 8.0. I have the most experience working with Vegas and have only just installed Adobe, and found myself lost in format/ layout of the program.

uh thanks

I found it extremely easy to navigate, and both of us used adobe premiere pro to make that video (I use 1.5 and Max uses 2.0). I've seen the vegas workspace and it's all jibberish to me. Since I tend to use PS, AE & Premeiere to make vids I find all the adobe products are similar in outlay and terminology *shrugs* I've yet to see a good reason to swap.
