LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A VIDEO FOR THIS SONG

Post by scottphares » Tue Mar 25, 2008 11:29 am

Of course you'll get all the credit you want.
I am a solo acoustic artist looking to have an anime music video made for my song "Georgia" which can be heard/downloaded for free at
www.myspace.com/sjpmusic

I have 35,000+ listeners/viewers/friends.
So your exposure would be a good one.
This is all new to me.

If interested contact me on myspace

I'll second that. Not sure right away what I would use for this, but I'm loving the song either way. So any chance of a FLAC version of the song for us AMV'ers to tinker with in the timeline?

This is the umpteenth time we've had this issue.

I always appreciate it when artists take a genuine interest in our work. I am grateful, to this day, for Zykos and Bowling For Soup's willingness to allow me to use their music...

HOWEVER... Neither of those bands expected me to produce content for them, and legally, I have no idea what their labels would think of their agreements with me. In the end it was all informal, and neither of us wanted exposure linked to my amv work. Your exposure is dangerous to us, and to you, because we don't own the copyright to the video material, and neither do you. If you just want to see what can be done, sure, some of us will give it a whirl, but we won't help you produce marketing content.

Oh, and in real life, I charge a few thousand dollars for that. Ask Greg Hecht.

Nice song!

I have moved this to the AMV Suggestions thread as it's a bit better suited to this topic.

I agree with Kionon. If you want marketing content, this is a bad idea. If you really, really, and I stress really want marketing content here are some things you'll have to do.

1) Contact the company that produces the anime. Get their written permission to use it. This will most likely cost you. (They might even hand you some uber-HQ footage to tinker with.) Square has been known on occasion to do this.

2) Contact your record company, if applicable, and get them to approve it. Amy Lee personally contacted a member a while back and complimented an AMV with her song. Her Record label later pulled all Evanescence vids off the site.

3) Make sure the footage you are using is legally obtained. Even if you have permission, it is still illegal to download it.

4) Make sure the person doing the video is using legit software...for the same reason as #3.

If you don't want it to be official marketing content, continue. Otherwise, jump these hurdles.
