Post by smittycal » Mon Jul 21, 2008 8:36 am

Howdy...I dont think that I ever posted on here..(actualy Im sure I havnet lol) but I was looking for AMV communities and realised I already registered here a while ago. I just started making a few AMV's but I just made a video that Im not sure if I can call an AMV...I just posted this on youtube...im not trying to get more views on the video or anything but I just want to know if this could be considerd an AMV because I was thinking of entering it into a competiion next year...

Heres the link...http://www.youtube.com/user/smittycal

Its the one called Garo the Gold Knight pt1

Im working on Pt 2 right now and which ever on turns out better will be the one I take to the con...

Thanks in advance for taking a look....also any comments on here would be appreciated. If I need to re edit anything or cut parts out let me know.

Technically, no, it would be considered a Live Action Music Video. There are communities out there geared towards that. Try searching for "vidding", you may find what you're looking for.

Easy guide to see if you have an anime music video:

Is there music? yes

Is it mostly anime? no

Therefor it's not an anime music video. :\

If you're really curious then why don't you try, I dunno, asking the people who are actually running the contest if your vid would work?

It seems they would be best for clarifying "japanese oriented" for you

Isn't AWA like this? Pro discs always seem to come with a random live Action vid of some sort.

I dunno..becasue I hate being told NO in person lol...

I didnt want to waste my time redoing the vid and getting it comp ready just to have them tell me it dosent qualify..if thre is a chance that it wouldnt I could use my time better on doing a traditional AMV like the other ones I have on my page :D

Plus some of the people at the con are shady..one person will tell you its ok and the next will tell you no....just trying to cut down on the BS

So ask now. If you like your live action idea most, ask now and see.

So find out who specifically is running the competition, and ask them.

Ah logic lol....your right of course...I should just try to find the head person and ask them now and just shoot them the link. I think my real problem is that I want to take the vid there but I have a feeling that they wont let me enter it. I guess theres one way to find out lol....

Ill do that :D

Thanks

AWA doesn't technically have 'AMV Contests', it has the Video Art Track- which is open to any and all types of 'Video Art', such that you can make a video using any source at all and submit it to (most of, the SAST has content restrictions) the contests and it's allowed. Most AMV contests (like the 'org's own hosting) though have restrictions on content, usually requiring either some or a majority of the video to be anime (though exactly how to define anime is occasionally troublesome).
