I just got a macbook

final cut is the editing software program of choice for macs right?

Or is there a different program?

Either Final Cut or Premiere. Whichever you prefer.

Though Final Cut is probably what the industry would point you to.

I used Premiere with Windows. I'll try out Final Cut and if I don't like it, I can just switch back to what I'm familiar with.

Final Cut is the way to go, even the Express version is very solid IMO. Premiere tends to be kinda clunky on Macs in my experience, but both FCE/FCP and Avid even both work very well.

Though, I feel that Adobe products are much better in general.

I was never a fan of FCP, but I haven't used it as much as Adobe.

Experiment with both, and see what you like
