And I thought I was the only one who overused ellipses.
I still tend to make videos that are mostly effect free. I keep meaning to learn After Effects and then I get bored and forget about it...
If you can make something that pleases your sensibilities though do it. If you can't make what you want try and get better. And if you can't... well then maybe you re-evaluate what you want to do and why. If your doing effects just for effects sake whats the point?
Personally I prefer effects that you don't notice. If you don't know its going on but you think your just watching a normal edited video I think thats the ideal. For me at least. And others prefer so many effects that you can't actually see any anime in the amv.

I should be proof enought that old school and new school can play together AND frankly Old school means something different ot everyone anyways...
There really is no difference in old school or new school editing in principle except for the technology used and thus more option available (yea, the tool box is bigger with more shinny tools, however a tool box is still a tool box)
It would sure be boring it we were all the same
