You can totally join my studio. It would be amazing and shit you know. Just send me your address and I'll send you the necessary paperwork so we can get you on your way to becoming a amv rock star!

good question.

well there are some reasons

1) to show people my skill
2) to be apart of something that i can do (trust me i am crap at sport and math and this is something that isent hard and you have total will on everything that is going on) lol
3) and to just take advantage of what i have now .. i am a improving AMV and i am confident to be in a studio
It is not necessary to be in a studio to get recognition, since that seems to be what you're trying to acocmplish. As long as your videos are good, it doesn't matter one bit if you're in a studio or not.

Id agree to a certain extent of that.
What good does talent do you if you know close to nobody
Or have a ton of friends that love your video, along with some other simpleton amv
If you pair up with people, known widely on yt, you can get people to watch your vids
yt eg. You pair up with zet and nev who are loved immensely over there (not saying they aren't good) so you end up having people with all their eyes on you

However, being good, if you are, you will eventually be discovered by someone from a studio (if you still wish to be in one) or be shared and spread out by the 100s, 1,000s, and maybe even 1,000,000s

I used to think being in a studio made me good for them to have chosen/accepted me
Then I realized, screw a studio, they make close to no real difference in how you go about editing.
Learn off from each other you say? you can do that regardless
"They have tons of MEPS!" Does the org not have a whole section for MEPs and the like?

Studios don't necessarily equal to improvement

you can have friends within the community and collaborate with others without having to be in a studio with them... I don't see my interaction with others to be limited to only myself (the only member of my studio). I can socialize here on the forums and talk with people in IRC and in other places as well. Being in a multi-member studio or not doesn't change that ability, nor does it change the friends I've made.

There's a difference between "knowing somebody" and being in a studio.

Yep, yep
You don't need to be part of a studio to get recognition.
All you need to do is make some cool videos ^_^

I used to do the group thing with my studio some years back but now I fly solo.
My reason for having a studio isn't for recognition or something like that.
I go by Soul Anime Productions because the name represents some of the types of video I make and being listed under that, makes them sound all official and stuff. =)
That's the reason why I have one.

If you are still set on being in a studio, you can always make your own and get some friends to join it.

Am I blind, or has nobody pointed out that the vast majority of studios in the database consist of a single person?
