Ethical question ... Same Anime, Same Song?
Hello all,
I visit here very seldom, but am currently in the process of making AMV#2 and I've found that the anime and song have already been done before. My idea is completely different though and I do not think it would infringe on the ideas of the original editor. In the eyes of my peers in this forum, if I keep my ideas fresh and original, does anyone see a problem with me proceeding with my video? Thanks in advance.

I've actually come across this personally a couple of times. Once I made a clip without doing my due diligence search beforehand and made something very similar to one that already existed. Most of the time, if (like you stated) your concept and/or anticipated execution is different from the similar vid, I'd say go ahead and do it. Just my two cents, though.

Who cares if someone already did it? You just do it better.

nobody here owns the copyright to the idea, just do it.
claim ignorance if you have too... lol you shouldn't let something like that stop you or else how would we ever have discovered improvements on the original like dixie cups, coke zero, football (as opposed to rugby), or the mecha cow.... well the last one hasn't been invented yet...

Thanks for the input, all. I figured the same thing, but I just needed a confirmation from likewise anonymous people . Mecha Cow on the way ...

#1 You infringe nothing unless you copy the vid 1:1, but anywy the "original" amv doesn´t have a copyrightVistian_Femto wrote:Hello all,

when this happens to me, I usually make the video anyways...
but I don't watch the other video before hand because the few times I did it effected my editing choices... so I avoid the other video until mine is finished. When I'm done then I often like to go back and watch the other one to see how they are different XD

I ran into this problem a few years ago and asked the same question.
Original Video
MyVideo
I say make whatever you wanna make. And if this were a real problem, we'd have a war over people copying LinkinballZ videos.
