There's a reason why my "usefulness" score is 1276.7, and it has nothing to do with my superbly constructive feedback.

Re: Do you really think about your ops?
I spend so much time trying to give a good opinion, it takes me 15-30 minutes to type out something that will take less than a minute to read. But if I really loved the video, I want the creator to know that, because they deserve to know. Another thing that takes me awhile is pointing out things I didn't like, but trying not to be rude about it (sometimes that doesn't work so great and I come off catty, but I try ) Because I like constructive crit and would like to think that a person won't take great offense.

I have the same problem. I may be a cynical a** but I still try to avoid slamming somebody's video, I hate doing that. I felt really bad after giving my op to a certain video (will not name it), so much so that I ended up changing the op 2 minutes later.MagiTabby wrote:Another thing that takes me awhile is pointing out things I didn't like, but trying not to be rude about it (sometimes that doesn't work so great and I come off catty, but I try ) Because I like constructive crit and would like to think that a person won't take great offense.

Re: Do you really think about your ops?
I'm pretty serious but sometimes I just have nothing of relevance to say so I fill it up with random (semi-related) phrases. I usually just do that to fill the boxes, not more than a few words. If you really think about it most of the time they relate.... to at least how I'm feeling at the time (as a result of your video).
But largely skipable. I wouldn't be ashamed if you skipped it lol.

Re: Do you really think about your ops?
I think some people leave a very short opinion instead of a quick comment because that's how they do things. Sometimes they can be critical but it might just be their initial reaction and not really thinking about. With that said, I don't think I've had someone give me all 1's or 10's, so you must have been really unlucky (or lucky) or popular enough to receive them. I used to give serious opinions when I was really into AMVs and had lots of time, but if I don't have time to write a serious opinion, then I would rather not instead of write something quick without thinking about it. In summary, some people use opinions to be serious and some people use them to casually comment. It's just the way different people do things.

Re: Do you really think about your ops?
Here let me use you as an example since you've obviously used yourself as an example (masochism much yes??)Chiikaboom wrote:I don't put much thought into ops. Not like its a big deal rite?
On one hand who cares? The site is made to have fun, this is how I have fun! And we agree with that.
On the other hand there wouldn't be such threads if it made NO difference.
BUT most importantly, as Basher brought up, I don't know if it matters as many (not all!!) of the perfect 10 group won't read such threads anyway. ALSO as you said you may honestly think it deserves perfect 10's anyway! You don't op the vids you don't like, and nobody can blame you, it's not your job or mine for that matter. AND FINALLY there are fuddy duddys like Crack there that DON'T UNDERSTAND COMPASSION and basically even the scale out for us anyway ~.~
So in the end I'm not sure if it matters, just don't go complaining about bad reviews when all you give is the sugar coated ones that do the same thing to a person's intellect (ie nothing).

Re: Do you really think about your ops?
I never said I sugar coat em. I said I try to convey my point without sounding like a total a**hole. I don't go "Well, good for trying." or other BS like that. I just avoid being blunt. Except for just now. But my forum posts are very different from my ops.Knowname wrote: So in the end I'm not sure if it matters, just don't go complaining about bad reviews when all you give is the sugar coated ones that do the same thing to a person's intellect (ie nothing).
