Re: question about sound
Quite a few of my Japanese friends call themselves Japs just for the sheer fact that it's one syllable instead of three. See, the problem with saying it's a racial slur is that it's only a slur if it's meant maliciously, and if people are offended by it. If you hadn't noticed, it's 2009, not 1949, and people have moved past the anti-Japanese days of WWII.Kionon wrote:...I ought to smack you upside the head. In case you failed to notice, it's 2009, not 1949, and "japs" is considered a racial slur. And I only call you on it because you had no comedic reason for doing so.
Back on topic: I have mixed in sound effects from the original video before, which can add to the video if done tastefully. As mentioned before, you need to play around with it and listen to your final mix with really good headphones to make sure the mix is clean. I've also mixed in sound effects from flashkit before. It's a great way to add comedic sound effects to your AMV.

Re: question about sound
Could we maybe get back on topic?
I think a good example would be the "outerspace" and "mad rhetoric" bumps that toonami used. I liked the style they used and how it was compiled of different animes and used sounds from the animes that were being shown. Personally its something that I like and those were the videos that I watched when I was younger that toonami used in between commercials. Now that I'm older and when I see amvs now they seem a bit boring because I'm so use to watching anime where people talk, gunshots, explosions and other special effects but instead the anime is overlapped by a song (that usually doesn't fit the anime from most amvs I've seen).
Now I know that toonami was a programming block and so they had to showcase ALL their anime shows in their promos and they probably had professional editors working on them and if you think they're confusing or don't like them and what not then that's cool its just what I like. Basically what I'm asking is here is that is there some written rule that forbids using dialogue and sound effects from the anime in amvs? There are so many highlights in an anime show why not convey them in an amv by using sound from a music track and the show? To me that'd be more exciting to watch than these constant linkin park/dragonball z amvs being made.

Well that doesn't sound very amusing at all...chui101 wrote:Quite a few of my Japanese friends call themselves Japs just for the sheer fact that it's one syllable instead of three. Re: question about sound
they also probably have access to the raw source which probably includes separated audio tracks...jendres wrote:toonami
here we have to work with the audio mixed, so a lot of the time the original music clashes with the music you are trying to use for the video.

Re: question about sound
the secret to that is bandpass. Audio is layed down in layers just like video, you can 'composite' out the effects, it just deals with a few more tools but as ears aren't as precise as eyes it's not as hard to do... one of my favorite things about meps.
If you do not think so... you will DIE
