Just bought the Blur Ray for 22 bucks & I enjoyed every bit of your vid, especially the start. I think it was a great way to ramp up to what followed.ngsilver wrote:Speed Racer vid

Video: Brother
Category: Serious, Sentimental
Source: Eagle Eye
Song: 23kid
Artist: 65daysofstatic
Creator: Arashinome (DZ Studios)
I made this video not too long ago to help myself cope with the loss of my brother. I had seen Eagle Eye one night on cable by chance and I really enjoyed the movie. The one thing about it that really got to me though was the funeral scene, and the way Jerry talked about his brother. It got to me because some of the things he was saying were exactly what I was feeling inside. There are a few repeated clips in this video, which I repeated intentionally. When dealing with the loss of somebody this close or even close to you in general, you tend to have racing repeating thoughts...memories of the one you lost, things you could've maybe done to prevent the loss from happening, things they said to you or you said to them...I wanted to try to get that idea across.
I have never to this day put so much personal value into something I've edited and all in all, I made this video for myself, and originally didn't even plan on showing it to anybody, most specifically people on the org. But I figure I might as well. Maybe it could help somebody else out there cope with a loss, or shed some light on another relationship between brothers, if only a little. To be honest the only reason I'm actually releasing it here is because of the responce I got on this video from somebody else the other night that really made me feel like I did my job correctly and that there are still people out there who will be able to feel a bit of what I might be feeling while watching this video, and maybe take something from that feeling.

This is my 1st attempt at a full live-action video, and to date is my favorite of all my works. It was nominated for the best "non-anime" category in AWA's Pro contest this year but sadly didn't bring home the gold. One thing that made this interesting is that it has received mixed reviews. The editing style is artistically more similar to an AMV, as the song a good number of beats and nuances that just begged for more complex editing. Thought I did my best to keep a few of the cinematic rules, like 3rds and color psychology. It's in no way perfect, but hands down the most fun I have had editing in years. Enjoy!
