AMV in full 3D. How many of you have 3D glasses?

Post by Qumah » Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:47 am

I'm working now on a stereoscopic AMV. The most popular method of viewing 3D at home is by using glasses like these:

I wonder if it's true, how many of you have a pair?

The image above is in full 3D (it's not fake or anything.) The 'effect' is intentionally subtle, so ppl watching won't get a headache. And also - it looks OK without glasses.

BTW Here are some 2D images:

There's still a lot of work to be done, but I think the final video will be very funny and entertaining.

None here. 3D is a joke in my honest opinion. I do not support this trend. Granted that is just me.

I agree. There's too much hype around it. I'm learning how to shoot in 3D however, so I thought I'll make a 3D AMV.

The hype is lame, but I see 3D as having a lot of potential if used properly. And I do own a pair of red-cyan glasses.

I'm not a trendy person, so don't expect any 3D videos from me anytime soon.

...That is until I find the perfect song to edit to Coraline :ying:

i believe someone already made a 3D AMV, but yea, go right ahead make it. I dont own a pair of glasses though to watch with when it does come out.

EDIT: So offer a 2D version of the video for the rest of us.

I have a pair of the red/blue ones. I hate that kind though. My opinion: wait a few more years for when the "realD 3D" type TVs and such are more common in an average household, and make it that kind of 3D. If that's even possible, I know very little about 3D technology.

@ Megamom
People mostly get sick not from the the "3D" itself, that is technology but because directors like to make things jump out of the screen to show off. My personal experience with red-cyan glasses is that they are OK for previewing stuff and watching short clips. However wearing them for a feature film is not a good idea.

It's not the best method there is but it's popular, easy to use and cheap.

You don't have to wait few years, I made a RealD 3D projector, that works with glasses from the cinema for around 200€. You need two projectors, 2 pairs of those dark glasses and a silver screen (some tin foil if you don't have anything else). The most difficult thing is getting software and contnt that you can play.

Here's how it looks like

3D is interesting, but overall misused and problematic for most people. The only use of 3D I really care about is for games, but even then a couple hours of game play = headache/eyestrain. So maybe if the technology can be refined it might be useful for some things. But right now I find it annoying and just an attention/money grabbing ploy by the movie studios. As for 3D glasses, I have a pair of the red-cyan type and kept the Real D 3D ones from Avatar.
