AMV-block...help T-T

Post by ryuuseisoul » Sat Mar 17, 2012 7:42 pm

I'm entering the Anime North MVC contest...and I haven't finished my entry. On top of that, I have AMV block. The deadline is April 2nd, but I need my AMV finished at least 5 days before the deadline so I can look at the AMV with fresh eyes and correct timing problems then.

I seriously can't bring myself to touch my AMV (it's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children to Skillet - Hero Legion of Doon Remix).
Any advice for getting over AMV block? ._.

Watch a lot of videos and you'll find inspiration again (that's what happen to me sometimes...)

Take a pause don't force yourself just because of contest, try doing something else. Ignore it and wait for inspiration, maybe something better will pop-up in your head? I tend to have those sometimes but i guess it's better to ignore it and lose some tension since it's not THAT important (there are zillion of other contest).
Still better than that MMO.

I'm actually having the worst block ever, myself D:

I keep thinking I'm going to finish it by the end of the week(That was like 3-4 weeks ago). All I end up doing is a few minor tweaks here and there and start staring at the same old stuff over and over and over again. I'm trying to do little side projects and goofy things to try to come back to it later with a fresher perspective and new ideas, but I haven't hit that spark yet where I know what to do to really finish it all up. Hopefully, I'll have it finished by the end of this week.

"Maybe I'll have it finished by the end of this week. . ." :bzz2:

... To be honest, I'm in the same predicament... I just get to a point where I want to edit but I don't want to find the footage because I'm not use to working with Vdub and DGIndex... At the moment, I'm trying to take a break from this bad habit of not finishing anything anymore and, at the same time, I really want to finish editing something. However, even when I start to edit something, I never seem to finish anything anymore, which is odd because I use to be cranking out AMVs left and right when I was editing with only iMovie...

Thanks everyone, for your advice!

I'm back (surprisingly quickly, even to myself); got my inspiration again :) Took a 2 day break, stopped telling myself that I had no chance, and watched several AMVs with a similar editing style to mine.

Go running or do something physical, while thinking about your vid. I get the best ideas when I'm out running, sometimes I come back and just have to fix/tweak things or start a new project. Good luck :D
