How can I make my amv flow better???

Post by LazuliAMVs » Wed Dec 10, 2014 12:14 pm

I made this video. It's not the best since it's the second amv I had made (but I posted it late due to problems and delays). I want to know how I can make this amv flow better. Is there a way I can make it flow without having to change too many scenes??? I plan on putting some zooms when I remake it. Any suggestions to make it flow better?

PS: Please read the video description. Thanks.

Well, it seems like you are fighting the rhythm of the song. Every song has a natural beat to it, usually divided up into four or eight beats per line. What you want to do is put the transitions on those beats. You never want a scene to extend part way into another segment, unless it's going to cover it. The song is there to enhance the flow, and if you don't cut on the beats, it will feel like the flow is broken.

Does that help at all? You scene choices seem to be fine, it's just giving off the illusion that it isn't smooth because you aren't hitting the beats.

Generally what the above said, but cross fades and panning. Like if you use a zoom-out pan, then make the 2 clips fade into the beat, 2 clips being the one before and the one that hits the beats, the fade should finish after the beat hits. While the cross fade is going on pan in that space the second clip zooming in out fast then when the beat hits throughout the end of the clip u have a slowing pann zooming-out. I promise it'll look good and help with flow. Another ti[, but the scenes on different layers and just make them fade alone. It's the same thing but then if u wanted 1 clip to fade more then you can do so. And pan in other ways to, it'll look good if you get a rhythm to it.
