If you can watch a video and the sum-total of the entire thing (to you) is just the combination of anime and music, then you're either completely missing the core idea of it, or calling your proposal a "remake" is overly generous.
I'm starting to wonder why this forum keeps diminishing of activity for years now, after reading these four pages, it seems you people waste too much breath on amv's that are taking someone's work and editing it together and calling it yours, when at the end of the day, it's just editing, you bitch about stolen amv's, i would like to see you bitch more to any anime director, studio, blah blah blah about how your someone stole your amv's *waahh!* *waahh!" it's almost flabbergasting how none of you don't get sued by anime companies, this is my only post here, and now i leave.

I think you misunderstood the response. Essentially, just because you want the use the same anime and song as the video you saw doesn't mean that you'd be ripping off that creator or require their permission. If you like the combination and want to see it fully-formed the way you'd edit it, then you should go ahead and make it! If you are doing different edits and going in a different direction than the other video, that's not a remake, that's a new video.

Also, if you read through this thread, you'll see quite a number of responses from people who feel similarly to you in regard to the "ownership" of AMVs. :P

Uh, yea. Exactly what Ileia said. I'm somewhat superfluous with my words some times.

Nobody should be getting bent out of shape over ideas. Especially when those ideas are so soft as only being the combination of audio and video.

The thread really was about lifting other people's actual edits or taking credit for someone's full video. What you proposed was so far removed from any of that. It's the most non-objectionable scenario even brought up. You shouldn't consider it a remake. It's your own video. (i.e. your calling it a remake is overly generous).
