Your first AMV?
I just completed my very first AMV and it was such a daunting task. I never expected that the hardest part was finding good clips from a single anime to line up perfectly with the music. Maybe next time I will try and storyboard better.
How was your first AMV?
Did it turn out good?
What would you change if it were done today?

Nothing's perfect, the world's not perfect, but it's there for us, trying the best it can. That's what makes it so damn beautiful.

Mine was fine, I mean not great but you've got to start somewhere.
Today, I'd probably fuss over it more and the whole intent behind it would be very different, but I don't quite know what that video would even look like.

I actually kind of still like my first video (I should say, the first one I uploaded to the .org). I've thought about going back and re-doing it, but I probably never will. That said, after that one, it was a while before I made another video that I can watch today without physically cringing.

@seasons
It does seem like the first one is where you learn so much you really want to do a second one so you can see how much you have learned.
@CrackTheSky
I was thinking that as I was doing the basic transitions thinking there was a better way to do them and can't wait to go back and redo them later. Lol.

My first one sucked. I didn't even have a concept beyond "I'll try matching some clips up to music".

The first AMV I actually "finished", ie, deemed ready to post online I actually re-did like 50 times before posting it online so it's pretty decent for a "first" AMV. It's actually my most popular vid on YouTube as well. Probably put more than 50 hours into it, mostly learning, and trying things.

Re: Your first AMV?
I finished my first amv just a year and a half ago (Jul 2018). It was one of the most satisfying feelings in my life.. I've loved amvs since high school, and really wanted to make them, but never had a real chance to... untill I was 35 and was graciously given a computer with Adobe Premeire Pro. I learned some basics of the program and made a couple short "practice" edits to get accustomed editing. Naturally, I picked a 7-min instrumental to use as my first full edit for some dumb reason. Took me about a month to make it, but I was really proud of myself once it was done.
If there was one thing I could change it would to use bluray quality video, not dvd.

Re: Your first AMV?
I learned about AMVs through a niche dbz fansite. I didn't have the capability to do things at that precise time so I made slideshows with RealSlideShow instead. Eventually I was able to put actual video to music, so my first "real" AMV was my tv recorded by a digital camera in intervals of about 10 seconds, edited to some techno music using Windows Movie Maker.
It was a various anime AMV and basically I was just making my own version of those AMV ads from "Manga corp" DVDs
It was pretty standard first AMV fair - scenes too long, mostly just cuts, song way too long (I think it was 5 minutes). It and most of my early work is pretty embarrassing, but... It could've been worse, I guess.
The only thing I'd change if I did it today was probably put in more research into How to Edit, because I pretty much just winged it. Everything else was lack of technology available to me at the time rather than ignorance.
