Nothing's really changed and tbh that is fine. But rather than debate the merits of different types of editing, I'll take this thread as a request for videos with effects and original animation released within the past decade. Here are a few...

I haven't posted here in ages but after Koop shared this post I couldn't help but laugh. IMHO in regards to simple videos if it sucks without effects then the video probably isn't that good in the first place. Effects and the need for them depends on the video I am making... then again since I am a father of 2 I don't have time for heavy effect based videos.

What do you mean by "lately"? A few of those videos are only a couple years old. Sounds like you just favor more artistic looking AMVs. While the examples you provided are excellent pieces, they have more than just special effects going on. The effects were needed to tell the story they wanted, not the other way around.

Wait, whaaaaat? I watched this video repeatedly throughout the AnimeNEXT 2019 judging and finalists screenings, and I don't remember seeing any original animation or major effects. Clever use of opening sequences, maybe, but nothing fancier than that.
I'm very confused. Were you directing this at the original poster, or Corran? Because the OP didn't give any video examples at all, and Corran never used the word "lately" and also didn't express a preference for one style or the other.Rider4Z wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 9:51 amWhat do you mean by "lately"? To be honest I'm not terribly familiar with some of the sources and may have confused some of the color-related "effects" with stuff already in the show. Things that stood out to me when selecting this one were the way transitions blended the scenes together (i.e. many paint themed transitions such as at 0:12, 1:02, 2:02, 2:31, etc) and the painting/rotoscoping/drawn effects at 0:35 with Yuri on Ice. But yeah it is kind of the odd one out in the list I put together..
