Best animes to use with country songs?

Post by tuxedomarty » Thu Jul 04, 2024 7:01 pm

I have been in a big country music phase as of recently, and as an AMV maker, I have ambitions of making some vids with country songs, but it has been hard to really find animes that go well with country songs. I'm mainly aiming 80's and 90's country. Mickey Gilley, John Michael Montgomery, Little Texas, Tracy Lawrence, Alabama, stuff like that.
I can't stand weeaboos and people who keep badmouthing dubbed anime and say it sucks.

My one attempt was to try have "fun" with lyrics. Best to watch seasonal animes going out until something show up that fits
Spoiler :

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Only Yesterday, and Bobby's Girl are all older anime with nice rural aesthetics that would fit nicely with country music!

There's nothing wrong with that! I like to make "fun" videos. You don't have to be all that serious and let your imagination and creative juices run wild! :D

Only Yesterday is widely available (better late than never) but I'm pretty sure the other two are out of print or were never released outside of Japan at all.

I think you could make a country music AMV with all kinds of anime, it doesn't necessarily have to be stories exclusively taking place in a rural setting.

If a song is absolutely laden with the country music "cliches" that people love to complain about, then it might be a hard sell to a lot of viewers. (Who knows? Maybe this could work anyway.) But if the sentiment of the song is reflected in the visuals, anything is possible.

I did find that Tekkaman English ep31 Japanese ep34. (I have to doublecheck the English,I thought it was ep28 English on my computer) has a cowboy hat seen and gatchaman works pretty well but that is on the top of my head. Death Parade (there is a bar), One Piece (I used the tango dancer (I hope I am not getting that wrong, possibly flamingo) but it is so long there must be something else) or Happiness Charge Pretty Cure are other good choices. granted I would love to hear some good ones as well.

I just want to mention if I get the dancing wrong I am so sorry. flamingo is not in the standard heat. there is Latin standard American smooth and one other that escape my head. I would have loved to also have learnt flamingo but my teachers only taught standard and Latin.
