I rented out a movie theater for an AMV retrospective!

After the really invigorating experience I had last year with my show last year at a local art gallery, I wasn't sure if it was something I'd want/be able to do again. Then after catching a killer Violent Femmes concert in May something just clicked in my mind and I thought: I need to do another showcase, I need to make it all videos I didn't show at the last one, and it had to be held at my favorite place on earth, the Metro Cinema (who couldn't have been more supportive and I'm deeply grateful for).

The hardest part for me in putting this together was trying to figure out what the kind of guiding concepts would bring it all together. That was something that came more naturally with my last show since I was kind of tracing my life trajectory with the videos I selected, but these videos were much more disconnected. After figuring out some anecdotes that stuck out in my mind that related to each one, and spending some time with my good friend Jacob (who also did an incredible job filming the show as well) breaking down what each video and anecdote could communicate, slowly this thing started to come together. What comes to me now in hindsight is how much it surprisingly serves as a direct continuation from where my Prostrate Constantly show left off: I end that one with the Pirouette introduction saying how I think my art and life will be richer by forming deeper connections with others, and basically every anecdote here relates to connections I have formed with others enriching my perspective on art and life.

I hope you guys can find something to resonate with here!
