The Perfect AMV creator...

1. Only uses anime that they have gotten permission/rights to use.

2. Only uses music that they have gotten permission/rights to use.

3. Is not using any pirated software.

4. Is not using any bootleg source footage. (Hong Kong DVDs, Mpegs from the Internet, etc...)

5. Does not charge or make profit for showing their AMVs to the public (This includes prizes from AMV contests).

6. Does not charge or make a profit for distributing their AMVs. (This even includes having banners on your website that generate income for you or your hosting company. Such as Geocities Banners, etc...).

7. Distribution of AMVs via physical media such as DVDs, CDs, VHS, are at the cost of the creator. (You can't get anything having monitary value for your AMVs. SASE and getting CDs sent to you, well SASE and CDs have a monitary value and therefore you can't accept them.)

8. I'm sure there is some legal thing about how if your not an official business or charity you can't even accept 'donations'.

Ofcourse you could always gain the rights to actually sell your AMVs by getting such rights from the companies owning the Anime & Music. However companies aren't very likely to do that.

then i doubt very much whether theres ANY perfect AMV creator on this board. If so, theyd be very very busy, what with ringing up all of the musical artists whose song they use, and calling all the anime creators. hmmm.....HYPOCRITE FORUM!!!!

Actually I can think of 2 different 'perfect AMV creators':

1 -- The person that uses fully licensed software with footage and music that they have bought. They have not aquired license from the copyright holders, but they DO NOT distribute their finished AMV in any way (dvd/cd/ftp/whatever). They only show it to friends in their presence and if it is shown at a con, they are present at that con. The finished AMV never leaves the person's possesion.

2 -- The person that uses fully licensed software, and aquires license to use the footage and music from the copyright holders for the purpose of their AMV. Also, the person has aquired distribution rights from the copyright holders for whatever kind of distribution they will use for their AMV.

Unfortunately, there are very few people that fit those profiles.
