Hey that works i have ..... never ..... won ...... a contestanneke wrote:5. Does not charge or make profit for showing their AMVs to the public (This includes prizes from AMV contests).
That's me all the way! I dont even have a site yet!anneke wrote:6. Does not charge or make a profit for distributing their AMVs. (This even includes having banners on your website that generate income for you or your hosting company. Such as Geocities Banners, etc...).
I ask not for money, it's just a tip. Tips aren't illegalanneke wrote:7. Distribution of AMVs via physical media such as DVDs, CDs, VHS, are at the cost of the creator. (You can't get anything having monitary value for your AMVs. SASE and getting CDs sent to you, well SASE and CDs have a monitary value and therefore you can't accept them.)
anneke wrote:8. I'm sure there is some legal thing about how if your not an official business or charity you can't even accept 'donations'.
Too much work. I'm far too lazy for that.anneke wrote:Ofcourse you could always gain the rights to actually sell your AMVs by getting such rights from the companies owning the Anime & Music. However companies aren't very likely to do that.

In other words...
In other words the perfect AMV creator should be loaded with cash to buy all lisenced and legal materials needed. Hmm let's see. I guess you should have like $2000 just te get started (including different software, anime, music).
I don't have that kind of cash, and I have no idea why someone thought it should matter if everythings' legal. You can think of it this way, doesn't making AMV's promote the anime itself and therefor create income indirectly for the creators of the anime? As far as I'm concerned AMV's are a counter measure (eventhough most are from P2P) of all the income loss in the anime business through illegal downloads. In Europe people are more and more aware of anime and more people like it. I'm sure if they'd import some more people will go buy it.
It's the same with music and MP3's. Thanks to P2P I know a lot more bands than I used to, and I regularly go visit a concert that I wouldn't have if I didn't download their music. So there you go, another income shift.
About the software... Nah, $549 just for Premiere. Not even speaking about the large amount of programs I use next to that. They should go screw themselves and their ridiculous amounts of money they ask. *_*
The perfect AMV creator is one that can promote the anime (and possibly music) in such a way that will get more people to buy it.

This thread was spawned as somewhat of a joke to this other thread. To understand or clarify any questions you may have you aught to read through it. Some of the posts are very well written and bounce opinions and legal facts off of each other just to give the AMV community an idea of what legal boundaries we are stepping into and why we might want to care or not care..
